Tulip Queen Circular Spalding

Start: The walk starts in the car park of Tulip Queen (PE12 6FY) Grid ref. TF 243 196

(S/E) Exit the car park and follow the road clockwise around the petrol station and then take the road exit marking (West) at the road junction turn left and follow the road to a roundabout.

(1) At the roundabout turn right to follow A1175 towards Stamford, keep on the right and single file for 600 meters up to River Welland.

(2) Turn right off the A1175 onto Soke Dyke with River Welland on your left. Keep on the dyke for approximately 3 km until you reach Cowbit Road.

(3) Cross over B1173, turn left and follow the footpath to WM4 (around 500 m or so) until were the B1173 crosses over the Coronation Channel.

(4) Turn right before crossing the channel and follow it on your left for 800 m until the next road crossing.

(5) Turn right onto Spalding Road and follow this for 1 Km.

(6) At the T-junction turn right onto Burr Lane and continue onto it for 1 Km.

(7) Before you reach the main road B1173, turn left into Fen End Lane continue to the end then take the footpath through a wooded area exiting onto B1173. Crossover and turn left to return to Tulip Queen car park. (900m) (S/E)

Usually good water bird life on both river Welland and Coronation Channel.

In March we saw apart from ducks we saw Swans, Cormorants, Crested Grebes, Egrets and Sky Larks.
