Car park at the town hall in Saint-Martin.
(S/E) Leaving the car park, turn left onto Rue du Calvaire, then continue along the river, Breitenbach, following the yellow cross markings. Continue straight on along Rue du Chemin Neuf, then turn right onto Rue de la Grotte.
(1) Before the last house, turn left at a calvary onto a dirt track towards Breitenbach.
At the first fir trees, continue right on the yellow cross markings (ignore the heritage trail marked with cherries). See the cave, then continue on the hillside path.
(2) At a three-way junction (bench), turn right onto a path marked with a red ring. Further on, you will come to a wide bend (animal shelter and bench) and turn left downhill, following the red easel markings. At the next three-way junction, turn right and climb slightly.
(3) You will arrive at a wayside cross + bench, with a beautiful view of the village of Breitenbach. Turn right for a few metres, then immediately turn left and climb for about 100 metres (briefly marked with Anneau Jaune). At the top of the climb, turn right (marked with Tulipe). Further on, the slope becomes gentler as you approach the summit.
(4) Shortly before the summit, at a hairpin bend, turn left to pass above a wire enclosure. After the enclosure, at a three-way junction, turn right, then further down, turn right again to descend.
Return to the enclosure and turn left (red ring markings). Cross a stream and continue past a park with kangaroos.
(5) When you reach Rue des Tilleuls, turn right and head uphill towards Ferme Lindgrube. At the next crossroads, leave the road and turn left onto a path (still following the red ring markings). Further on, keep left to descend towards the houses.
(6) When you reach the RD425 (stop sign), follow it to the right uphill (be careful!) following the yellow ring markings. Pass a wayside shrine on your left. Shortly afterwards, in the right-hand bend in the road, at a wooden barrier, turn right onto the path uphill.
(7) Arrive at the car park of the Hôtel 48 Nord.
Cross the D425 to continue on the path opposite, then turn right and, at the next three-way junction, continue right following the yellow ring markings.
(8) After a concrete wall, turn right to go up a road. Cross a stream and turn completely left, continuing on a steady climb.
Further on, stay on the path turning left, marked with a red ring.
(9) After a sharp left turn, take a small path downhill to the right, then turn right onto a path (ignore the signpost continuing to the left under a chalet). Pass the sign for Forêt de Maisonsgoutte / Chemin des pâturages and follow it for a while.
(10) At a crossroads, descend to the left, signposted Chemin du Mont, blue sign, then at the three-way junction, keep right, signposted Chemin des Fermes.
(11) Further down, at a bend, turn right at the Chemin Höllrain sign (still following the blue Chevalet markings). Walk along a stream in a hollow, then arrive at Maisonsgoutte. At the crossroads, leave Rue du Chemin Creux on your left and continue downhill to the D424.
(12) Opposite, between the church and the town hall, take Rue du Kuhnenbach. Continue along the river, following the blue cross markings, then leave Rue de Kuhnenbach and go up Rue du Couvent. At an oratory, keep left.
(13) At the last house, turn left onto a small path overlooking the Giessen river.
Near Château Honcourt, follow the modified route to go around the estate on the right. Return to the river and go up the road to the D424 at the entrance to St-Martin. Turn right, passing the Freppel bar.
(14) Turn left and immediately cross the D425 (pedestrian crossing) to take the narrow Rue principale, marked with a yellow cross. Ignore Rue du Feu and turn right into Rue de l'Église to return to the town hall car park (S/E).
