Description of the walk

Start at the bottom of the Jarjatte ski lift (car park).

(S/E) Head south-east on the GR®94 to the bend in the road.

(1) Leave the GR® and take the marked path on the left. The path crosses the ski lift line and then climbs into the Champ Tondu woods.
After the summit (elevation 1413), ignore the two paths on the right that descend towards the ski slopes, then take the path that climbs uphill.

(2) From there, the trail continues almost horizontally through the forest. You will soon reach the permafrost of Combe Obscure.

(3) After a few clearings in the forest offering beautiful views of Tête de Lauzon, the trail opens onto the vast cirque of the Mougious meadows. On the left below the path, you can see the Mougious Fountain.

(4) At the entrance to the forest, do not take the path on the left that descends into the Ravin de la Chaumette. Continue straight ahead on the forest track that leads to the edge of the Buëch, then follow it to the left.

(5) At the crossroads, take the path on the right which leads directly to the stream. There used to be a bridge here, but it was washed away and will probably not be rebuilt. When the water level is low, it is easy to cross, but it must be impossible when the flow is strong. In this case, you can always turn back a few metres to the crossroads and take the path on the right that leads back to La Jarjatte via the left bank of the Buëch.

(6) After crossing, turn right and then immediately left onto a path that leads to the Cabane du Fleyard (and, beyond that, to Lac de Lauzon). This path then joins the forest road, which you take to the left. After a double bend, you will come to a signpost in the Ravin du Lauzon.

(7) From there, you can make a short round trip to the hut, which is a pleasant spot, then retrace your steps and take the track that climbs left into the woods above the road. In this section, there are several tracks and not many markers, but as soon as you leave the woods, you will see the path clearly marked out in the pastures. The path continues horizontally across the pastures, then begins to descend, passing by a livestock farm and, after crossing a wood, joins the GRP® Tour du Devoluy, which descends from the Col de la Croix.

(8) Follow the GRP® to the left until you reach the D505, which takes you straight back to the start, ignoring all turnings to the left and right (S/E)

Thank you @cornet22 for reading the description carefully even if you don't use it (I do the same thing).
For point 5, from the stream, you just need to go back to point 5 to find a path on the right – now marked according to OSM Trails – but it follows the left bank and not the right – correction made on the map.

I don't use the description because I use a Garmin hiking GPS and the track, which is accurate here, but I sometimes read through the description. I noticed an inconsistency here: at point 5, it should be understood that if the stream is impassable, you must return to point 4 (not 5) and take the path that leads to La Jarjatte on the left bank of the Buech (not the right bank). Otherwise, it's a magnificent hike with an impressive view of the Dévoluy cliffs. It must be even more beautiful in the autumn colours. I recommend it.

Beautiful route, well marked. Several shaded areas in the woods, which were welcome given the heat... Beautiful views, a refreshing river crossing. It's a shame that the pastoral areas prevent passage in some places (we had our dog with us). But no problems overall...

A beautiful walk, but much of it is through forest, with magnificent fir trees, some of which are over a hundred years old, but no view of the magnificent surroundings during this crossing.
Lake Lauzon, which is much more difficult, it must be said, offers a sublime panorama, with a hint of the Dolomites...

Several inaccuracies or errors in the description; the author seems to have problems identifying right and left!
- At point 1413 (small clearing), there is a path that descends to the right, one in the middle that ascends, and one to the left that descends, marked in yellow-green; this is the one to follow
- "(4) At the entrance to the forest, do not take the path on the right that descends into the Chaumette ravine": the path that leads to the ravine is on the left, not on the right in the direction indicated for the hike! Follow the track you came from, towards LE CHARGEOIR
- "At the crossroads (5), take the path on the right which leads directly to the stream": LE CHARGEOIR signpost at this crossroads
- "After crossing, turn right and then immediately left (6) onto a path that leads to the Cabane du Fleyard": it's the opposite! Once you have crossed the Buech, turn left for about 20 metres and take the path that climbs to the right at the signpost; the direction of Cabane du Fleyard is clearly indicated on this signpost... but on the other side
- (7): at the livestock park, the path splits in two: the left-hand path (not very well marked, but visible again a little further down from the park) is the one described in the information sheet. The right-hand path takes you via the Col de la Croix.

A small clarification regarding the route description.
The description 'After the summit at 1413, leave two paths on the right that descend towards the ski slopes, then a path that climbs' is a little misleading. There are not two paths on the right and one that climbs, but one path on the right (which descends), one path that climbs and the GR that descends to the left. Simply follow the GR.
At point (4), it is advisable not to take the path on the right that descends into the Chaumette ravine, but to continue on the forest track that leads to the edge of the Buëch and then follows it, turning left. Even if this indication is correct, this detour is really of no interest. The forest track is cluttered with felled trees and the path along the Buëch is rutted and very muddy. There are no views or anything of particular interest. In my opinion, it is better to head towards the Chaumette ravine.
In the end, this walk is classified as difficult for no apparent reason (perhaps the distance?), but it's fine once you've found the path after passing under the ski lifts and follow the GR trail carefully.
We found the walk enjoyable, with beautiful views, it's true, but having done the Lac du Lauzon and the Col du Charnier the day before, perhaps we found it less exceptional than if we hadn't known the site at all. Finally, the return to La Jarjatte by road is a bit long. On the other hand, there is an impressive myriad of flowers!

Please note:
after point 1: The path crosses the ski lift line and arrives at a meadow. Take the trail on the left that climbs into the Champ Tondu woods, where you will find the yellow and green markings
after point 7: cross the livestock park – keep to the left on the trail that appears on the slope of the field. You will find the yellow and green markings again. Do not enter the woods; turn right onto the path just before them.
The end of the route is not particularly exciting = tarmac road.

Very accurate description, the GPS track was essential when crossing the ski slope to find the path a little higher up. Thank you again for this beautiful and varied hike.
