This is a short hike in the hills with beautiful views of the small and large Munster valleys, the Petit Ballon, the Hohneck, the Frankenthal, the Schlucht and the Trois Fours.
Good footwear is required as there are a few sections where you have to climb over rocks (north face of the Petit Hohneck) and the descent from Schaefferthal to Gaschney is very rocky.
With a bit of luck, you may encounter some chamois grazing on the mountain pastures.

Description of the walk

Gaschney car park, drive up to Muhlbach.

(S/E) Go behind the Gaschney farmhouse inn and follow the small, uphill tarmac road (marked with blue and red-white-red rectangles) that leads to the Schiessroth farmhouse inn.

(1) At the farmhouse inn car park, turn right and follow the Blue Triangle marked trail, which follows the contour lines and leads to the Schallern inn.

(2) After descending towards the inn, turn left and follow the path marked with a red triangle, which leads to Schaefferthal.

(3) Reach the Schiessroth farmhouse inn by descending to the left along the rocky path marked with a red rectangle to the car park of the Schiessroth farmhouse inn.
