(S/E) You are near the fountain, facing the church. Head north-west onto the Route de Manthes, which runs alongside the church on the right (you will return on the left). This is the D137.
Follow it for a while. Pass Impasse de la Margillère on your left, then another small road.
(1) At the next junction, turn left between two fences onto Chemin du Polemard. This is a discreet lane that quickly turns into a grassy path. It goes straight towards the plain.
(2) You will cross a small paved road (signposted "les Polemards"). Continue along the gravel path. When you arrive in the village of Manthes, you will see a private garden on your left. It is private but open to the public. The owners will be happy for you to admire their work, in particular the "circle of lost poets".
(3) A little further on, you will come to a sign for "le Prieuré". Take the ramp on the right that leads to Saint-Pierre Church and the Priory.
Back on the road, you will come to a crossroads (iron cross). Turn left onto Chemin des Plantées (GR® red/white signposting). Very soon, you will come to a fork.
(4) Turn right onto Rue de Montfrey. When the road turns left, take the grassy path opposite. You will cross a ford (which should be dry). Walk through the pear trees of Valloire.
(5) At the "Les vergers" sign, turn left onto Chemin des Ronzières. On your right, you will see an educational hut with information about Valloire pears. Take the time to solve the riddle displayed on the north-west wall of the hut.
Turn right onto the path immediately after the hut. It leads to a paved road. Be careful, as there may be traffic here. Follow this road to the left. It will take you into the village of Moras-en-Valloire. Take the main street to the right.
(6) You will arrive at Place de la Liberté, with its old chestnut tree planted in 1848 and its fountain. Continue along the main street until you pass the post office and the town hall. Just after the town hall, go through the archway on the left to enter the Cour Pierre Davity. At the end of this courtyard, on the left, you will see a staircase (Renaissance?). Go up to the first floor and turn left twice. You will see a small wooden door. If it is closed, open it. Behind it, you will find a pretty path that will take you to the church of Moras.
(7) Go past the church and climb up to the cemetery. Take the path on the left that climbs steeply. When you reach a fork, take the right (follow the yellow markings). After a few twists and turns, you will come to another fork; take the right again. A little further on, you will see a poorly cleared path coming from the left. Follow it for a few metres, then take a path that climbs steeply to the right (red/whiteGR® markings and yellow markings). This will take you directly to the Madonna statue and the orientation table.
(8) Continue straight ahead, passing the "Madone" sign. At the fork, go down to the left. When you reach a complex crossroads, leave the first path that comes in at a 45° angle to the left and take the second one downhill. This quickly leads to a small, poorly paved road. Continue downhill until you reach a larger road. Take the hairpin bend to the right (GR® red/white signposting). After a bend to the right, turn left onto Chemin de la Massonne.
(9) When you reach La Massonne, take the second path on the left at the crossroads (Chemin du Combet). Follow it to the end of the valley, ignoring the paths that climb up to the right. At the bottom of the valley, take the path on the left, crossing a ford. You will return to the other side of the valley, facing north.
(10) When you reach the "Château Levaux" sign, turn right. When you reach a fork, stay on the plain by taking the left fork (yellow/red markings, which you will follow until you reach Lens Lestang).
(11) You will arrive at the Château du Double. Take the time to walk back and forth on the left to see it more closely. Continue on your way. When you arrive in Lens Lestang, turn 90° to the left to come out onto a larger street. Turn right to return to your starting point (S/E).
