Stadium car park, Rue Amiral de la Grandière.
(S/E) From the car park, walk along the stadium towards the church, go around it on the left and you will reach a three-way junction at a place called Ar Groaz Ruz (the red cross).
YellowPR®® markings (in the opposite direction to the route)
(1) Follow this road for about 1 km, which descends through a series of bends to a bridge, ignoring the other roads.
(2) After the bridge, turn left at the old Kernévez Mill and continue along this road (the purple route on the map is no longer up to date).
(3) Before the Park ar Stang farm, turn left onto a wide path leading down to meadows. A small stone bridge allows you to cross the wide stream. Then begin a steep climb to reach a road at a place called Coat Goën. Opposite you, you can admire a superb manor house.
(4) Turn right and continue to the D51 stop sign. Cross and continue almost straight ahead towards Saint-Huel, with a livestock building on your left.
No signposts
(5) Ignore the sign for Sant Uhel Vihan on your left, where thePR®® continues, locate the slightly hidden calvary and continue up the road despite the yellow cross. At the first crossroads, turn right onto a small road that continues to climb (wide panorama of the rolling countryside). Pass several farm entrances and walk along wooded areas.
At the sign for Meilh Kerhuz (Kerguz Mill) on the right, at the side of the road, take the time to have a look at this ruined mill; you can still see the millstone in place. Continue along the rest of the leat that fed this mill.
(6) Turn left, leaving Le Moulin de l'Abbé on your right, and continue along the road for about 400 m. Look for the start of a path on your right with a standing stone at the entrance.
(7) Turn left into a wood and begin a steep climb (more than 60 m elevation gain over approximately 500 m). Follow this path straight ahead until you reach the plateau.
(8) Just before an electricity pole, turn right then left a little further on and continue along this path overlooking the hamlet of Gulvain. You will reach a small road that descends to the right at this location.
GR®®38White and Red markings
(9) Turn right to enter the fenced area of land, go around this old parish chapel, rebuilt in 1880, to pass near the calvary and see a remarkable pietà at its base. Go down the stairs that lead to the wash house and fountain. Cross the hamlet following the GR®®. Pass by a large building (former ballroom) and join a road where you turn right.
(10) At the 70km/h speed limit sign, turn left onto a path between meadows and follow it straight ahead until the next fork.
No markings
Turn left onto a farm track and leave theGR®® trail continuing to the right. Go around the Stang Jean farm and begin a steep climb in a straight line.
(11) Turn left, pass the Penn ar Ménez farm (summit of the mountain), the highest point of the route, and continue along a steeply ascending farm track. At the top, turn left (viewpoint over the Montagnes Noires), pass the Trézenvel and Ty Gouzou farms and reach a road.
(12) Follow this road to the left (viewpoint over Briec and the Locronan mountain) and arrive at the Chapelle du Niver at a crossroads. Note the 18th-century chapel, restored in 1900, which was an important place of pilgrimage. Note the imposing calvary and a statue on the gable of a house. Continue past a green space where there is a small oratory and a fountain that was previously on private land. Pass the hamlet of Bouallaouic and join theGR®®38coming from the right.
GR®®38white and red markings
Walk past a riding centre and horse paddocks to reach Coat la Motte (Koad la Motte on the ground), where you leave theGR®®38, which turns left.
(13) Continue to Kerpuz and walk alongside the large livestock buildings of this farm.
YellowPR®® markings (in the opposite direction to the route)
(14) Turn left at the first road, leaving the road leading to a water reservoir on your left, and continue along the path that descends alongside a coniferous wood on the left. Cross the D51 again and climb up opposite.
After the two houses that have been converted into holiday lodges, at the rubbish bin, turn right and follow this path which climbs gradually. It is bordered by a coniferous wood, several trees of which have fallen during recent storms. You will therefore sometimes have to go around them through the wood, but there is a passageway that allows you to do so without difficulty. The path leads to the village of Langolen. Turn left to return to the car park near the stadium (S/E).
