Circular in the Langolen countryside

This route alternates between small country roads and sunken paths, some of which are steep-sided. The hike, which follows a hilly route, takes you through numerous wetlands and meadows where horses and cattle graze. From the heights, there is a wide panorama of the Montagnes Noires.

Description of the walk

Park in a staggered formation near Langolen Stadium.

Yellow markings

(S/E) With your back to the village, walk past the village hall, cross a road and turn into the cul-de-sac opposite. Follow the path leading off to the right and continue through some wooded areas until you reach a road opposite Poulpry.

(1) Turn left towards the D51, cross it carefully and continue along the cul-de-sac opposite. Follow the path which climbs steadily and reach the access road to Kerzoualen Vihan.

(2) Turn left and, at the next road, turn right and walk past the Kerpuz farm.

(3) Turn right onto the access road to Bourc'hou Braz and continue along the path which begins a lovely descent towards Sant Uhel: beautiful views during the descent. You will reach the wayside shrine of Sant-Uhel on the left.

(4) Follow the small road down to the D51.

(5) Taking a left-right turn, cross the main road with care and head straight on towards Coat Guen (a pretty manor house at the entrance to the hamlet).

(6) Turn left onto the path leading down to the Pont Neuf stream and cross it via a large stone slab.

(7) Turn right and follow the small road to the Kernévez mill (Meilh ar Gervevez in Breton), situated on the right.

(8) Follow the road to the right, cross the bridge over the Ruisseau du Pont Neuf and continue along this road as it winds uphill. Ignore all side roads and proceed to the Groaz Ruz fork (marked by a cross).

No signposting

(9) Turn left onto Rue du Presbytère, go round the church on the left and join Rue de l’Odet, which you follow to the left for about a hundred metres.

(10) At the bend in the road, continue straight on along a lane leading to houses, then follow a path that joins the D50.

Yellow markings

(11) Cross it with care, continue along the path leading to a fish farm on the Odet and follow it alongside the D150.

(12) Leave the main road and turn left towards Stank Vihan.

No markings

Pass to the right of the hamlet and begin a straight climb up to a path starting on the right.

Yellow markings.

(13) Turn onto this path, pass Kerouant (tarmac section), continue climbing to the right along the same path, cross a stream and reach the access road to Deriene. Follow it straight on to reach the village of Langolen, Rue Marie Kerstrat.

(14) Follow this street to the right, pass the town hall and Place Marie Littré, then turn left to return to the car park near the stadium (S/E).
