Parking at Le Niver Chapel.
(S/E) Go around the chapel, head towards the old bar and take the road on the right (towards Trégourez) , taking care as you pass the agricultural cooperative. Follow this road and go past Ty Bodiou.
GR®®38markings: White and red
(1) After an old garage, do not take the direct road to Gulvain but the next one on the right, Route de Scoldy (GR®®38markings) and descend to Gulvain following theGR®®, passing near an old ballroom ("la Guinguette" currently being renovated).
(2) Go around the chapel (or cross through the cemetery) and follow the road uphill.
(3) Turn left onto a grassy path, leaving theGR®® straight ahead, follow it, turn right to join a wider path that descends steeply and continues into a wood to reach a road.
No markings
(4) Turn left and follow this road, which crosses a stream. Pass Kerninon (a beautiful stone house) and, at the crossroads, turn left (signposted Pépinières A. Campion towards Gulvain-Le Niver). Continue along this road for about 100 metres.
(5) Turn right towards Kervella, go around the houses (beautifully renovated) and continue along the wide path to the right until you reach the junction with another path (GR®® 38).
GR®®38markings: White and red
(6) Turn left and continue along this wide path. Shortly after crossing a stream, continue straight ahead, leaving theGR®® which turns left.
No markings
Continue until you reach the large farms at Stang Jean.
(7) Turn right and follow the small road uphill. At the Penn ar Menez sign, turn left. Go around the hamlet (do not take the wide path that continues straight ahead) and continue uphill to the right to reach a larger road.
(8) Turn left. (wide panorama of the Montagnes Noires). The road leads to Saint-Jean where the chapel is located.
(9) (You can visit the fountain at Ménez Saint-Jean, 200 m away; turn right at an old building (sign for the fountain broken in 2014). When you reach a new house, turn left at a quartz block and follow the hedge: the fountain is below the house.
(10) Retrace your steps.
(9) Turn right at the road and, at the crossroads, turn left and enter the enclosure to walk around the Chapelle Saint-Jean (a beautiful wooded area with a picnic table). Turn left as you leave. Follow this road downhill to join the road from Edern. Turn left at the 50-herd sign, pass Mézangazec and continue to the Chapelle du Niver chapel (S/E).
About 100 m to the south, there is a grassy area with a fountain and altar.
