Description of the walk

Car park in front of the Trébas campsite.

(S/E) From the car park, follow the Chemin des Berges to the right, running alongside the Tarn towards the retirement home. At the D76, cross it, go uphill and cross two more roads and Prad del Bourg.

(1) 50m after Prad del Bourg, take the path on the left. Pass in front of the Source Assié and note the entrance to a well opposite. At the first junction, go up to the left, cross a stream and keep left again at the next junction to reach the road. At the road, turn right.

(2) At the junction, take a sharp left onto the grassy track. It heads south then zigzags westwards to rejoin a road.

(3) Turn right twice to reach Mas de Lafont and Mas Sourèze. Keep left, heading west after Mas Sourèze, then turn right for 100m.

(4) At the bend in the road, head straight on along a small stony path. Ignore a turn-off to the right; the path, lined with boxwood, leads to Gaycre. Halfway along, at a left-hand bend, note an old fountain.

(5) At the picnic table, take a stroll around the village and admire the pretty house, chapel and church. Return to the picnic area and head up opposite towards the Mission Cross for the view over the Tarn.

(6) Mission Cross erected in 1952. Head north again, following the yellow-marked trail. At the road, turn right and cross the hamlet of Lesquiquié.

(7) At the next bend, head up to the right along the wide white gravel track. At the junction, take the hairpin bend onto the stony, grassy track on the left (yellow markings). When you reach the road again, turn right.

(8) At the fork, take the right-hand path and, 150m further on, take the sharp left turn onto the track on the left. Cross the D75 and continue along the local track almost directly opposite.

(9) Before the farm building, turn right. The track ends on the road at La Boudoulié. Walk through the hamlet towards the left.

(10) Turn left at the end of the hamlet. The path descends with two bends. At the road, cross carefully and continue down the opposite side. The wide stony track leads to the D75, which you should take to the right.

(11) After the bend, turn left onto the dirt and grass track behind the electricity substation. The descent passes in front of the school and leads to the centre of Trébas. At the end of Chemin des Ecoliers, head left then right to return to the car park (S/E).

A lovely walk, of moderate difficulty.
One slight downside: at times there is a lack of signposting and the two trails overlap
And the signposting isn’t marked in the same way as the trail

A lovely walk. I tweaked the starting point slightly as I preferred to follow the banks of the Tarn to reach Gaycre.
The signposting is misleading between 7 and 9. Don’t forget your compass or GPS.

I know Trébas and the surrounding area well. This route is very pretty – a lovely walk, away from
the roads.

Please note: you will need a GPS as the signposts are missing or have been removed (the path is completely blocked, so you will have to go through the neighbouring field)
A very lovely walk of moderate difficulty, suitable for those who are a bit nervous (watch out for dogs).
