Park in front of the village hall.
(S/E) Opposite the village hall, turn left, walk past the town hall and the cemetery and continue along the D 53 to the wayside shrine.
(1) Turn left and take a grassy path, 50 m away. Follow a winding path down towards the wooded valley, at the bottom of which the Gaycre stream meanders (this name comes from the Iberian word "Garritz", which gives "Garric", meaning oak).
(2) Cross the footbridge and, keeping to the right, go round the pasture. At the track, turn left and ignore the hamlet of La Verrière. Continue along a wide path, then follow the left bank of the stream to a footbridge.
(3) Turn left and cross this second footbridge. The path continues past the ruins of the lower mill, near Le Poumayret
Climb up a cart track towards the plateau. Unexpected! You’ll come across a kilometre marker reading “Assac 1 km”; the distance is accurate.
(4) At the hairpin bend, there is an unobstructed view of the valley and the village. Continue to the road and head back to the car park (S/E).
