On the hillsides around Brimont

Parking is available at the rear of Brimont Church, accessible from the D268.

(S/E) From the car park, walk along the edge of the cemetery and head down the road to the left, then follow the grassy path continuing south-east, marked with yellow signposts.
Cross the Jorle/Lanauze stream, then, in front of the Petit Gavach house, take the small road on the left for 200 m.

(1) At the junction, turn right onto the Chemin de Brimont and follow this road for 1.4 km to the hamlet of Claoué.

(2) At the hamlet, turn left onto the Chemin du Grand Bosc heading due north, marked in green. Pass the hamlet of La Garosse (beware of two stray dogs that aren’t very friendly). The path heads north-west and reaches a crossroads after leaving the woods.

(3) In front of letterboxes nos. 1157 and 1158, turn left down the path between two fields, continuing along the edge of a hedge and then along the edge of the woods. Walk along a fence and continue to the right of a hedge until you reach a ditch. Follow the Jorle/Lanauze stream to the right until you reach a bridge on the left-hand side.

(4) Cross the bridge and take the grassy path opposite for about a hundred metres, then turn left and continue to the hamlet of Peyre.

(5) In the hamlet, at the junction with the Chemin de Brimont, ignore the green signpost on the left and take the sharp right-hand bend to climb up to the D268 road. Cross the road with care and head right past the walnut grove until you reach the second copse shortly after a slight right-hand bend in the road.

(6) At the junction with a track in the middle of a walnut grove on the left-hand side, follow this track downwards towards the north-west until you reach a bridge over the Ruisseau de Brimont. Cross the bridge and continue westwards along the grassy track until you reach a bend in the track, followed by a road. Follow this for a few dozen metres near the hamlet of Papon.

(7) Follow the grassy path marked with blue signposts down to a bridge with metal plates on the left. Cross this bridge, then follow the Ruisseau de Brimont to the left. After about 300 m, turn right and leave the riverbank to walk alongside a hedge on the left through a field; then, at the Château de Lassale, take a path on the left through the woodland leading up towards the D268 road.
Cross the road with care, continue straight ahead along the Chemin de Chory, reach the cemetery wall and turn left to return to the starting point (S/E).
