Start: Legburthwaite village hall car park, Keswick (CA12 4TJ) Grid ref. NY 318 189
(S/E) Exit the car park and turn right (North) on Black Lane towards The Lodge in the Vale hotel and Legburthwaite village. Continue straight until seeing a footpath on the left-hand side after a small car park. Turn left to take that footpath and continue straight South-West until reaching the A591 road. At the road turn right, then right again at the gate to take the footpath toward Rigghause End.
(1) At the first intersection of paths, take left and continue on this path going up to Wren Crag. Keep walking on this main path, ignoring side paths, to reach High Rigg summit (there are several small paths all going toward High Rigg).
(2) At High Rigg summit, take the left path and walk down until reaching a road (the right path goes to the same road so you can take any of the paths).
(3) At the road turn right and walk toward St John in the Vale centre. Keep walking on the road until seeing a path on the right-hand side (before the bend).
(4) Turn right on the path and keep on this path to reach Rake How. Then continue straight on this path (South-East) passing by Sosgill Wood and then below Rigghause Wood until reaching Rigghause End.
(1) Then use the same path you used on the way inward to find the car park again (S/E).
