Worth a visit
You can experience art in Freudenstadt in a variety of forms. Heinrich Schickhardt’s mill-board-game-like layout of the town centre, the set-square-shaped town church, the sculpture trail leading past both historic and contemporary works of art in the town… and, above all, the “Skulptura” on the Kienberg, which elevates Freudenstadt to the status of a “city of art”.
‘Skulptura’ is the Kienberg International Sculpture and Nature Park. In harmony with nature, numerous works of art by local artists have been installed in this sun-drenched landscape conservation area. It holds great appeal for anyone wishing to combine the pleasure of a walk through nature with a fascination for art.

The walk begins along the River Tonbach, then the path climbs towards the game reserve. You may spot around twenty fallow deer in the vast enclosure. On the way back, you’ll pass along zigzag paths twice – a distinctive feature of this route.

A short trail (1 km) in the middle of a nature reserve allows you to discover two interesting things: how nature is rebuilding itself after the Lothar storm of 1999 without human intervention and how woodpeckers interact with trees.
Several variations of the route are available, including one that allows you to walk along the trail with a pushchair or wheelchair as it is made of wooden planks.Hikers can continue on the Panoramarundweg trail or take other hikes a little further afield (by bus or car) in the Black Forest (including the Allerheiligen waterfalls).
