AugenBlick Circular Walk, Pfalzgrafenweiler–Kälberbronn

A lovely walk through the Tonbach Valley, then up through the hills on the way back. The walk begins along the River Tonbach, then the path climbs towards the game reserve. You may spot around twenty fallow deer in the vast enclosure. On the way back, you’ll pass along zigzag paths twice – a distinctive feature of this route.

A lovely hike in the Black Forest without any major difficulties. It takes us along wooded paths past Lake Sankenbachsee, the Sankenbacher Waterfalls, the Glasmännlehütte refuge and a short detour into the town of Baiersbronn.

Nothing beats a stroll along a cheerfully babbling stream on hot days. The Stream Discovery Trail near Iselshausen offers just that. Here, the Steinach becomes a real experience. You can hear the water rushing everywhere, seating stones invite you to linger, and anyone who wishes can cross the stream on large stepping stones or cool their feet in the water. Here, you can experience nature and water up close.

A great circular walk for lovers of unspoilt nature who can't get enough of the calming effect of the forest and who are hungry for exercise in the fresh air and pure freedom.

Start from the Sarbacher Hotel in Kaltenbronn (Gernsbach). Several large car parks are available, so it's fairly easy to find a space. The car parks are connected by a tarmac footpath. Ideal hike for a family outing. No steep or technical slopes. There is a very long wooden pontoon leading to a well-preserved pond. Pets are allowed along the entire route. The trail is well marked with the option to extend the route.

A hike alternating between forests and sloping pastures in the typical Black Forest landscape, with lovely green valleys and babbling brooks. More accessible all year round from the Dollenberg car park (accessible via the B28 road), this alternative route is slightly longer than the official 13.4 km ‘Wiesensteig’ route recommended by the Bad Peterstal Griesbach Tourist Office.

A short trail (1 km) in the middle of a nature reserve allows you to discover two interesting things: how nature is rebuilding itself after the Lothar storm of 1999 without human intervention and how woodpeckers interact with trees. Several variations of the route are available, including one that allows you to walk along the trail with a pushchair or wheelchair as it is made of wooden planks.Hikers can continue on the Panoramarundweg trail or take other hikes a little further afield (by bus or car) in the Black Forest (including the Allerheiligen waterfalls).
