Description of the walk

Park at Fond Cotte from Chatte.

(S/E) Take the road heading west uphill and follow the yellow and red markings towards Jacquemont.

(1) At the end of the road, continue along the path heading north-west. When you reach a junction, take the path that continues uphill.

(2) Turn right onto this beautiful path which joins a road at a place called Le Vaillet, crosses the stream of the same name and joins the D20.

(3) At the road, turn right and immediately climb the path on the left towards the north-east. This small path winds through the forest and then emerges at the edge of a field, which you must follow.

(4) Pass behind a house at Combarier and continue along the small road towards Terrifaux, passing the altitude of 429m.

(5) At the crossroads, turn right onto a path that leads to a small road, following the signs for "Terrifaux".

(6) Continue straight ahead, following the yellow and red markings. After 100 metres, take the grassy path on the right, heading south towards Quivière, until you reach the D20a.

(7) At the road, turn left and follow it for about 400m, then turn right. Watch out for cars; you can walk on the right-hand side of a field.

(8) Cross the stream and follow the yellow and red markings.

(9) Leave the road and ignore another small road that climbs to the left towards a house. Take the path on the right that turns left as it climbs. Leave the yellow and red markings and continue to the junction with a road.

(10) Turn right towards the south-west and continue along this road which descends to a place called Courbon.

(11) When you reach the bottom, turn left onto the sunken path that climbs uphill, following the yellow and red markings. Continue along this path through the middle of the Bois de Maisonne, climbing up to Saint-Séverin.

(12) When you reach this road, turn right heading south. Pass in front of a worn orientation table, where you can enjoy a view of Saint-Marcellin and the Vercors. Pass under a telephone transmitter, continuing down this road. Still descending, turn right for 150 metres.

(13) Turn left at the crossroads and follow the road as it continues downhill towards the south. After 400m, turn right onto the small road lined with villas.

(14) Turn right onto the stony path heading west and continue along this ridge. When you reach the woods, turn right onto the path that descends. Stay on this path, marked in yellow and red, to reach a small road next to a game farm.

(15) Head straight ahead and rejoin the D20, turn right and then after 150m turn left to return to the starting point (S/E).

Parking at the cemetery 1 kilometre before the start of the hike; avoid parking on private land. Hike done with GPS. Beautiful walnut groves, views of the Vercors, quite bucolic, pleasant. Regarding previous comments: the forest paths are once again passable after clear-cutting following strong winds that devastated part of the forest. There was no barrier at number 3. The small roads are not busy.

A superb hike with a few hills, but easily manageable. The two chapels are magnificent, but unfortunately closed. However, I understand why.
I've done this hike twice and I think I'll bring someone else along next time.

Thank you for this magnificent route.

ATTENTION!!!! It is not possible to park at Fond de Cotte. You must park in the Faisanderie car park opposite the sawmill.
PLEASE NOTE!!!! The section between 3 and 4 is impassable due to forestry work. Therefore, follow the signs from Le Fruit to Ferme Giron: please note that this is a busy road; then head towards Les Terrifaux.

Very beautiful hike with no difficulty in finding your way. One negative point is that the yellow and red markings are a bit faint in places and you have to look for them. Otherwise, no problems.

A problem at number three: impossible to take the path opposite, there is a fence for animals.
We followed the tarmac road on the right until we found a path on our left towards TERRIFIAUX

We took it and then took LE FRUIT.

A pleasant route for autumn or winter, mostly through woods.
