The Tertre Trail in Selongey

The Selongey area, home to the SEB pressure cooker, invites you to explore its Tertre hiking trail. Its name comes from the woodland you will pass through during this hike, which reaches a highest point of 415 m.
You will pass by the statue of the Virgin Mary, along the Tille and Venelle wind farm, before descending into the village. You will continue the walk along Rue du Mont and pass by the Church of Saint-Rémy de Foncegrive on your return to Selongey.

Description of the walk

Start from the car park, Rue Henri Jevain, Place Frédéric Lescure, opposite the hall of the same name.

(S/E) With your back to the hall, head to the right. Soon after, turn left onto Rue du 12 Juillet 1998, then walk alongside the artificial football pitch until you reach a side street (Voie du Marché).
Turn right, then left onto the D3 until the fork at the statue of the Virgin Mary, about fifty metres further on.

(1) Turn right at the statue of the Virgin Mary onto Rue de la Charme and continue straight on at the first two junctions until you reach a triangular junction with a central island featuring trees.

(2) Take Rue du Tertre opposite, which branches off to the left. At the next junction, turn left and continue along Rue du Tertre, then follow the white track for 2.3 km until you reach the wind farm.

(3) Turn right at the entrance to the park, then take the second track slightly to the left and follow it until you find a path branching off to the right, about a hundred metres before a dirt track. Follow this path to the right and reach the dirt track.

(4) Turn right, leave the woods and arrive at a viewpoint overlooking the village of Foncegrive on the left.

(5) Continue, then turn left onto the first path. Carry on through the woodland and head downhill to join the D120E (Route de Cussey). Follow it to the right, then take the D27 for a few dozen metres. You can enjoy the lovely view over Foncegrive and make use of the picnic tables for a short break.

(6) Look out for the Ru de la Gorge in the bend and continue to the town hall.

(7) Note the Foncegrive mural on the town hall (wall facing the square). Then turn right onto Rue du Mont, pass in front of Saint-Rémi Church and continue to the water reservoir.

(8) Take the path on the left and follow it to a three-way junction.

(9) Continue to the right and follow the path for about 2.5 km, straight ahead, along Chemin des Ruelles then Rue de Grancey.

(10) When you reach the tarmac (Rue de Marey), head down to the left until you reach Rue de Bussin. At the junction, turn right onto this uphill street, then turn left towards Orville. At the next junction, continue left onto the D3 and you will soon find Rue du Stade on your right. Follow it to reach the car park at the Salle Frédéric Lescure (S/E).

Worth a visit

Saint-Rémy Church in Foncegrive, rebuilt in the early 18th century on the site of the original. It is inspired by the Romanesque style; its square bell tower, covered in slate, is topped by a spire.

The SEB factory, founded in 1857 by Antoine Lescure, has made Selongey the home of the pressure cooker since 1953. A factory outlet is open in the town of Selongey.

A wide range of leisure activities, restaurants and accommodation are also available in the town.

A rather pleasant route, mostly through woodland and without any particular difficulties; it passes close to the wind turbines
The picnic table near the viewpoint is perfect :-)

A shorter walk for an afternoon: starting from Rue de la Cité (point 2) and returning via Rue de Marey (point 10), approximately 10 km.

A very popular walk: stunning views of Foncegrive (point 5), beautiful mural on the wall of Foncegrive Town Hall (point 7)

I highly recommend it!

Hello.
Thank you for this pleasant and varied walk.
Suggestions: after point 5, mention the lovely view of Foncegrive from the picnic tables (which, incidentally, are perfect for a mid-afternoon snack...). It would be interesting to include a detour to the wind farm to assess (or not...) the installation (height, size of the base and... noise).
Kind regards.
