Description of the walk

(S/E) Start at Place de l’Église.

Take Rue de Saint-Prix, passing in front of the church, then turn left onto Rue de la Malrue (towards Sainte-Colombe)

(1) At the top of the hill, turn right (there’s a cross at the junction of the road and the path) onto the stony path which joins the D85 and leads to the hamlet of La Chapelle.
Then, turn left onto the road that runs alongside the houses just past the farm.

(2) Turn slightly to the right to enter the village, keeping straight ahead (stay parallel to the road) and ending up on a grassy track. When you reach a small street, turn left. Cross the main road (D85) heading towards Les Piloux.
Just before you reach the entrance to this village, turn right towards Les Briots.

(3) Pass Le Branlin, head uphill and turn left onto the dirt track. This leads to the hamlet of Les Robineaux. As you leave this track, take the road on the right until you reach a T-junction, where you turn left, then right at the next junction.

(4) After passing the last house on the right, turn left onto the path that leads into the woods.

(5) After passing the path branching off to the right, head towards the small hamlet of Branlin, then walk up the street to the junction with the main road. Turn right and, after 80 metres, take a path on the left. On this path, turn left at the first junction, then right to climb up to the Moulin de Hausse Côte.

(6) Continue straight on until you reach the hamlet of La Forêt.

(7) At the drinking trough, take the road on the left which leads to Les Arnusses; you must pass right through the hamlet. Ignore the first path on the left.

(8) At the junction of four roads, turn left towards Les Brûlés.

(9) At the road, turn right to reach the village of Saints-en-Puisaye (E).

This walk is fairly easy and offers lovely views over the Puisaye region.
The mill is no longer open to visitors and has been converted into a concert hall… which is actually rather nice!
My only slight criticism is the sections of road (even though they’re not very busy), as there are plenty of footpaths in this magnificent region.

Hello chogui,
These two walks, taken together, cover 20km – quite an achievement given the elevation gain!
It’s true that, starting from the same village, we get to experience the two very distinct characters of the Puisaye and the Forterre regions, with their paths, hills, woods, all those hamlets and their heritage. Pure joy!
As for the signposting, a great deal of effort has been put in; I’ll pass on this compliment to the relevant people.
Thank you, and see you soon.

I did this walk, marked No. 19, together with the one marked No. 18, known as the ‘Vanneau Mill Trail’
A really lovely walk. You pass through quite a few hamlets, all of them very pretty, where peace and quiet reign.
It almost makes you want to come and settle here....
You walk along a few small tarmac roads
But there’s very little traffic!!!!!!
The signposting is spot on!!!!!!
Well worth doing again in the autumn
