Description of the walk

Depart from the Maison de Santé car park.
(S/E) Go to the street below the car park and turn right. Take the first street on the left (Rue Colette), then the first on the right. Pass the post office on your left and continue to the four-way intersection. Go down the Route de Saint-Amand on the left for 100 metres, then take Rue de Moutiers.

(1) After passing under the railway bridge, take the path on the right. Follow it until you reach a few houses. Do not cross the railway tracks, but turn left for 100m and then turn right into a path that merges with a field entrance.

(2) This path runs alongside the railway line, sometimes above it, sometimes at the same level, and sometimes below it, with a few gaps in the hedge allowing you to see the old Moutiers Abbey on your left (3) as you reach the D85 road.
Cross the RD85, the railway tracks and take the road on the left towards the Moutiers pond for 400 metres.

(4) Take the left-hand path through the woods. When you reach the stream, cross it, follow the railway line and cross the Cobaty bridge over the Loing.

(5) Shortly after crossing, go down the path that follows the banks of the lake to the main dyke. Head right to cross this structure.

(6) At the first crossroads, turn right and immediately take the path on the left. Then, the first path on the left will be the right one. It will take you across a small road and then onto a second road (D151).
Turn right, cross Les Boulmiers and, before the market gardening tunnels, turn left onto a tarmac path for a few metres. You will pass close to a pond on the right (private) and arrive at the hamlet of Les Michauts.

(7) At the exit of the hamlet, take the path on the left. It ends at a street and arrives at the Gerbaude crossroads.
At the junction, turn right twice, walk for 50 metres and cross to go down the steps leading to the Gerbaude wash house.

(9) Go up the alleyway that leads to Rue de la Gerbaude and turn right. Go up the first street on the left and, at the crossroads, go under the porch to reach the main square. Cross it straight ahead and continue to the starting point (S/E).

Worth a visit

There are some beautiful views along the route (3) and especially (8) from the Saracen tower with the Château de Saint-Sauveur (as you enter the field).

Nice route, the small passage to find at the entrance to the field is a little overgrown.
When you arrive at the pond, you get a wider view after the section through the woods... pleasant in summer as it's very shady..

You should just warn people that there are hunters along the pond in Moutiers.
