Description of the walk

Depart from the church square (car park behind the church).

(S) Take Rue des Faubourgs for 100 metres and then turn right onto Rue du Boichet. Pass in front of the old mill.

(1) At the crossroads, turn right. When you reach the road, turn left, then take the next right to cross the hamlet of Moulery.

(2) Stop at the wash house at the exit of the hamlet, then continue along the path, crossing the D3 road - caution, busy road. Take the dirt track opposite.

(3) At the next crossroads, turn left. Continue along this path, crossing the D3 road . Be careful. You will come to a small road.

(4) Follow it. There is very little traffic, but be careful nonetheless! At the entrance to the village of Sougères, take a detour down Rue des Jardins and admire the symbols engraved on the façade of one of the houses on the right. What a mystery!
You can make a round trip to the church, where the names of the workers are inscribed on a pillar to the right of the façade.

(5) Back in the village, take Rue du Couvent (towards Chauminet). After the last houses, turn slightly to the right and you will reach the old Roman road.

(6) Take it on the left and continue. When you reach the crossroads, leave the road and take the path that branches off slightly to the left. The stony climb is not very long but a little breathless - you can catch your breath by visiting the underground quarry. Continue to the end of this path , which leads to a tarmac road, ignoring the side roads .

(7) The highest point of Montagne des Alouettes is 200 metres away (you can make a return trip by taking the road). Take this road, descending to the right for 300 metres, then take the path on the right.

(8) At the crossroads, turn left towards the village of Les Guillons d'en Bas. Go slightly uphill and turn right onto the path. Follow the route on the map carefully as the path winds a little. You will arrive at the hamlet of Champ Martin Bas.

(9) Cross the small road and take the dirt track that leads to the road from Lainsecq to Clamecy (D6).

(10) Cross carefully and take this road on the right for 80 metres.

(11) Walk up the street, which passes a few houses, to reach the village of Lainsecq (E).

Notes

Do not pay attention to any markings on this route. The markings in place invite you to other routes described on this site.
There are no water sources, and the very cool springs are not drinkable. These paths are interesting because they are accessible in all seasons.
There are some beautiful fountains when you arrive in Lainsecq.
In fine weather, take time to enjoy the panoramic views along the Roman road. To visit the underground quarries on the climb, a small path hidden in the greenery opens up a beautiful view of the work of the quarrymen in this region. This limestone was used to build many houses and farms in this region. This (private) quarry is not closed to the public, but be careful of the stones on the ground and at the sides.

Worth a visit
