The route starts at the car park of Frizon Church, where you’ll find the sign for the three marked walks. Parking available.
(S/E) Head towards the town hall, where you’ll find the first sign, dedicated to the four schools that once existed in the village.
(1) Continue straight ahead, turn right into Place de la Mairie, let Rue de Grande Fontaine pass on your right, and turn left into Rue du Haut du Butté, where you’ll find the second sign, dedicated to the fountains of Frizon and their history.
(2) Continue along Rue du Haut du Butté, turn left at the stop sign, then left again onto Rue de la Croix, heading towards the water tower. Continue to the edge of the Frizon Communal Forest.
(3) Turn right and follow the path to the Tranchée de Gruilot.
(4) Turn right and follow this trench straight on until you reach the road.
(5) Turn left towards Bouxières-aux-Bois, then enter the woods on the right: this section is difficult for pushchairs. Continue straight ahead, first turn left then right and continue for about 400 m. Turn right at a 90° angle to reach the Fontaine Valère, where a sign tells its story.
(6) Continue to the right, following the blue signs. Turn left at the fifth junction, veer slightly to the right, then turn left again. Take the first junction on the right, then turn left 200 m further on. At the end of the path, you’ll join the Green Trail.
(7) Head off to the right and keep going until you reach the cemetery, where you’ll find the third sign explaining its history.
(8) Carry on, then cross the playground on the left. Next, head down Rue de l’Étang to the left, then turn left onto Rue du Poinsot. When you reach the last house in the village, turn right to go round the back. Cross the bridge, then follow the path on the right to reach Chemin des Renards: this section is also difficult for pushchairs. At the end of this path, you’ll find a sign dedicated to Stanislas Leszczynski.
(9) Keep going straight, then turn right to head up Allée des Marronniers and discover the fourth sign, which recounts the Bouzey disaster, as well as the fifth sign, which traces the history of this avenue as it passes by the château.
(10) Continue along the road, then turn onto the path on the left. Once you reach Rue de l’École, head up the road opposite towards the church, the start and finish point of the walk (S/E).
