Saint-Morillon walks

Note: route and description created from the Saint-Morillon Town Hall guidebook: Boucle des Anciennes Landes. 95% of the route follows paths through the woods and is very pleasant. It allows walkers to climb about 40 metres and cross a variety of landscapes. At the highest points, they will find themselves in what was once an area of moorland maintained for sheep. At the lowest points, they will feel the coolness of the Gât-Mort valley and the originality of its habitats. Experienced walkers will notice and appreciate the environmental changes along the way, both on the way up and on the way down, before returning to their starting point: the church square in the centre of the village of Saint-Morillon. At the end of the hike, you will walk along the Gât Mort stream, passing the ruins of the Lusié mill before returning to Saint-Morillon. The old mill was once part of a noble house purchased in 1754 by Montesquieu.

This walk through the vineyards is notable for its many wine châteaux, an ancient church with a pure Romanesque choir, and its significant production of lily of the valley. You will pass the Latour Martillac, Haut Nouchet and Cruzeau Martillac châteaux, located on the outskirts of the Bordeaux metropolitan area. Martillac, an Aquitaine village in southern Gironde, belongs to the Pessac Leognan wine region, giving its wines a prestigious appellation.

A peaceful ride through the green countryside of the Gironde, with very few vineyards for a change, but woods, hay meadows and green pastures, as well as streams, marshes and esteys, thanks to its proximity to the Garonne. Please note: a large part of the walk is on roads, so caution is advised

A beautiful circular route around Landiras on forest paths. The route does not include any roads, only the crossing of a departmental road. Between oak forests and Gironde moors.

A short loop, suitable for all ages, to discover the vineyards and moors of Pessac-Léognan. Very few roads, beautiful views. Easy to follow.

An easy loop through vineyards and forest Just half an hour from Bordeaux, Lac Beu de Léognan is hidden away in the middle of a forest park. It is a place much loved by families and other walkers for its bucolic setting and tranquillity.

Discovery hike along the Eau Blanche stream. It rises in Lipomey, south-southeast of Léognan. It winds through the forest before crossing Léognan and heading towards Cadaujac and then Courrejan, where it flows into the Garonne. The hike runs along the left bank of the vineyards of the Châteaux de France, Fieuzal and Le Sartre, Pessac-Léognan grands crus classés. On the way back, it runs along the right bank, crosses Mignoy, and passes near Château Chevaliner, another Pessac-Léognan grand cru classé.

A pleasant hike on forest paths around Budos and a section along the Ciron.

A very green circular loop, without concrete or tarmac, in Gradignan, very close to Bordeaux. Suitable in all seasons (paths are not muddy and there is shade). There are benches dotted along the route. There may be mosquitoes near the river (the Eau Bourde).

A lovely walk through the Loupiac vineyards, between paths and a few sections of road. The latter are always topped by an embankment for those who don't like tarmac... Having a river near your home is always a blessing. Our Eau Bourde is modest but full of charm, offering around fifteen kilometres of almost continuous walking or cycling along its tranquil course, alone or with the family, whatever the season.

In the privileged environment of the Bordeaux suburbs, there are many opportunities for walks and hikes. This loop, with its varied landscapes, can be enjoyed as a quiet and relaxing stroll, or, on the contrary, covered at a brisk pace using the techniques of power walking or Nordic walking. I opted for the latter, for a workout circuit lasting about an hour and a half.

Bouliac has a rich heritage. Numerous noble houses and châteaux dot the commune, bearing witness to a rich past and a time when Bordeaux merchants made their fortunes thanks to the commercial activity of the Port de la Lune and sought to acquire beautiful residences on the hillsides just a few kilometres from the big city. We offer you a lovely walk through the undergrowth and vineyards. You will pass by a pond, wine estates and the outskirts of Tresses, Pompignac and Fargues Saint-Hilaire.

This is a circular route of about 2 hours that avoids traffic as much as possible and tries to connect the various green spaces in this popular area surrounding the Saint-Jean train station and extending slightly into the commune of Bègles. There are many small squares and green spaces that are open all the time and are more or less well maintained. The route is accessible by bicycle if you take care.

Route starting from the Maison des Sources car park. A varied route, partly along the stream, in open country around the Monsalut estate with its two lakes, then through forest, then between moorland and cultivated fields, finally returning to the forest and the stream for the return to the source.

To the east of this area, near the station, you will find a majority of working-class neighbourhoods, often undergoing renovation, with green spaces that are open all the time. This is a circular that aims to connect the various green spaces of La Bastide, a neighbourhood located on the right bank of the Garonne, in two hours, avoiding traffic as much as possible. La Bastide is a former working-class neighbourhood of Bordeaux that has long been neglected and is now undergoing complete renovation. You will come across buildings from the 1950s alongside recent futuristic constructions and old Bordeaux shops. You can easily move from one era to another, and the construction work is far from complete. It is possible to do this route by bicycle if you are careful.

The aim of this two-hour urban walk is to connect the various green spaces in this area of Bordeaux while avoiding traffic as much as possible. La Bastide is a working-class neighbourhood that has long been neglected but has been undergoing rapid change in recent years. This walk allows you to discover the two faces of La Bastide: the old neighbourhood with its streets of shops and traditional Bordeaux stone houses, and the new neighbourhood with its new buildings. The walk can also be done by bicycle, but you must remain very attentive.

La Bastide is a neighbourhood located on the right bank of the Garonne, east of Bordeaux. This long-neglected working-class neighbourhood is undergoing rapid change, with the conversion of industrial wastelands, multiple real estate projects, new streets... The proposed route is likely to change quickly...The aim of this walk is to connect all the green spaces larger than one hectare in this neighbourhood, avoiding traffic as much as possible and offering the most beautiful views of Bordeaux from the quays. Two shortcuts are suggested to shorten the walk.I suggest starting the walk on the left bank quays, but it is also possible to start directly from the right bank, at Place Stalingrad, at the end of the Pont de Pierre bridge. The walk can also be done by bicycle, taking care to watch out for pedestrians.

This area has many quiet, shaded streets and well-maintained parks and squares that are closed at night. The route can be done by bicycle, taking care.

This walk connects some of the green spaces in northern Bordeaux. Only some, because Bordeaux stretches far to the north and it would be difficult to visit all the green spaces in a reasonable walking distance.The walk starts at Place des Quinconces, winds through the beautiful neighbourhoods brightened up by green spaces that are closed at night, and after Parc Marceau, takes you through the more working-class neighbourhoods of Grand-Parc, Chartrons and Bacalan, which are currently undergoing renovation, before returning along the Garonne.It is possible to do this walk by bicycle, taking care to watch out for cars and respect pedestrians.
