Saint-Geniez-d'Olt walks

This walk through the woods offers panoramic views of the Lot valley and the villages of Saint-Geniez-d'Olt, Pomayrols and its castle. In fact, it's the Aveyron as we love it.

Aurelle is a sanctuary of rural life. It has a 13th-century chapel, a communal bread oven, a few houses, a garden and a mill. This village offers threePR®1,PR®2andPR®3hikes. This description applies toPR®2.

Grandes Solitudes is in fact a continuation of the PR®6 "Solitudes" route in the Chamina guidebook, but with an extension. The lower part of Solitude in the Chamina guidebook is impassable. The route starts from Les Mazes heading north, then gradually follows the drovers' road and soon, with your head increasingly in the sky, you will gain 300 metres in altitude and enjoy sumptuous panoramic views. The return journey follows the Mardonenque boralde (small river).

From the village of Lassouts, you can look out over the rugged, wooded slopes of the Lot valley, with some truly exceptional views.

A contrasting hike through lush meadows and rich farmland on the plain or along the slopes, once covered with vineyards, with the medieval town of Saint-Côme-d'Olt in sight.

A very scenic hike over the Lot valley, the Aubrac plateau and Auvergne in the distance. The route is very pastoral, crossing numerous pastures where herds of cows graze (from May to October). The slopes are gentle and there are a number of fences to cross.

Walk on the Courry plateau, overlooking Séverac le Chateau. Panoramic view of the upper Aveyron valley, the Olip valley and the foothills of Lévezou.

You will meet many pilgrims in the first part of the hike, up to Belvezet, topped by its heavily eroded neck. A long stretch of road (caution for those allergic to tarmac!), although with very little traffic, takes you through the Saint-Chely-d'Aubrac valley to the mountain pastures, where you will only encounter beautiful Aubrac cows. Visit the village at the end of the hike.

A very pleasant hike, starting in the shade of hazelnut and ash trees. Then, on the Roman road, you will encounter the beautiful Aubrac cows (in season) with superb views of the Lot valley. Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac is a stop on the Way of St James and its bridge is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the title "Routes of Santiago de Compostela in France".

Second stage of a four-day tour through the Aubrac countryside, between the Refuge des Rajas and Nasbinals via Aubrac. On this stage, you will mainly use the GRP® Tour des Monts d'Aubrac and part of the Way of St James in the opposite direction (GR®65).
