To park, in the village of Pierrefiche, take the main road eastwards (D45E) and you’ll find a small car park on your left.
(S/E) Head towards the village centre, take the second street on the right after the school, and continue down to the right towards the church. You’re welcome to visit it.
Walk round it and turn right (eastwards) onto this gently sloping road. Follow this road, passing the streets and the cemetery on your right, then the houses of La Borie by the roadside on your left; continue for a further 200 metres and follow this path as it veers left (east-southeast) and descends quite steeply.
(1) 120 metres further on, continue down to the left. The path coming towards you will be the one you take back. After a sharp bend to the right, you’ll reach Glassac, a group of beautifully restored buildings that make for great photo opportunities (private property, mind you).
(2) The route continues along a clearly marked track or path on the right bank of the Glassac stream, and you’ll need to open some gates. Please make sure you close them properly behind you. This descent is cool and pleasant.
After about 70 metres, you’ll come to a wide path which continues downhill to the hamlet of Lundane (shown on the map, but not signposted),
(3) In the hamlet, you’ll come to a pleasant road at the bottom of the Coutelle valley, leading towards Sainte-Eulalie-d’Olt. Walk 1.6 km to the junction with the D988.
(4) Cross over to the other side, walk 150 metres and turn right onto Rue du Pont de Tresque.
(5) You can wander around the village, which is very charming.
Among other things, head to the church, turn left down towards the banks of the Lot and walk along the left-bank quays.
(6) Cross the small bridge over the Coutelle (not shown on the map), follow the path up the left bank and take the passageways under the houses.
(5) After visiting the village, to return, take the main street (Rue de la Traverse) and follow the signposts. Turn right onto Rue de Moyssac, then onto Rue de Tombarel for 100 metres.
(7) Turn right (south-west). After 130 metres, turn right again onto Chemin des Avabres, which crosses the D988.
Cross over to the opposite side onto the signposted path, which climbs steeply through the forest for about 2 km.
(8) At the 544-metre mark, the signposted path takes a very tight hairpin bend to your left; continue straight on. (Note: The signposted path also takes you back to Pierrefiche).
The path descends; you’ll soon come to a first junction – take the right-hand fork. After about 500 metres, a path joins from your right; carry on straight ahead. You’ll soon start climbing again. Another 500 metres and you’ll reach a series of hairpin bends.
(9) Take the hairpin bends first to the left, then to the right; 300 metres further on, you’ll rejoin the path you took on the way out.
(1) Continue uphill to the village, walk past the cemetery, take the road straight ahead without going round the church, and turn left to return to the car park (S/E).
