Description of the walk

Starting point: car park at La Boissière housing estate, Route de la Cascade (towards Pomayrols).

(S/E) Walk past the La Boissière apartment blocks and take the road that goes round them, towards “Bel Horizon”. Follow the road as it climbs steeply in hairpin bends.

(1) At the junction, leave the turn-off to Moulin de Juéry on your right and continue straight ahead on the road.

(2) Before the hairpin bend, take the road on the left towards Mas Nouvel and head for this hamlet.

(3) As you approach the houses, take the path on the right which climbs steadily through the woods and then runs alongside a pine plantation on the right. You will reach the hamlet of Soult.

(4) Take the track on the right. Follow it straight on to the edge of the Bois des Roncs.

(5) After the flat stretch, ignore the path coming from the left and continue straight ahead to the hamlet of Combetalade. Once in the hamlet, turn right then left (do not follow the road on the right).

(6) Turn right and continue down the slope heading west to rejoin the junction of the circular route.

(1) Return to La Boissière and the car park via the outward route (S/E).

There is plenty of variety along the route. There are some lovely views, particularly of ST GENIEZ D'OLT (at Le Trauquet, to the right of the track opposite a car wreck)

This walk offers very little in the way of views or interesting routes.
You walk along a path at the edge of the forest and there are no particularly noteworthy views.
We completed the short route in under 2 hours, whereas it is supposed to take 2 hours 30 minutes according to the on-site route map and 2 hours 45 minutes on the Visorando guide.
Let’s be clear, we’re not experienced hikers, but it’s obvious that the estimated time is overestimated.

A lovely walk with a steep climb right from the start. The return route involves quite a few tarmac roads, but they’re very pleasant as they wind through the woods. There’s a stunning view over St Geniez and the Lot. Allow 2 hours 45 minutes for the short version. Nice

A lovely walk, shorter than expected – around 1 hour 35 minutes with children
Highly recommended for the views over Saint Geniez
