From the D2089, head towards Le Barry, then turn right in the village towards Lacoux. Continue straight ahead through the hamlet, then when the road bends to the right, continue straight ahead on a path. A sign with a blue arrow indicates the car park for the Vallée de la Graille hike, which is about 200 m further on. Park on the grassy area at the crossroads, next to the Balirando hiking sign. This hike is known locally as Vallée de la Graille.
Blue markings throughout the route, lines or smallPR®® (Balirando) signs
(S/E) Follow the access road and immediately cross the Ruisseau de la Graille stream. On the other side, at the fork in the road, turn right.
(1) When the path branches off to the right into a meadow, continue straight ahead, pass a sign saying "Attention accès à la cascade dangereux" (Caution: dangerous access to the waterfall), ignore a path on the left and start climbing a path through the woods. At a fork in the path, keep right on the path that follows the contour line. You will arrive above the waterfall. The route does not descend to the waterfall, as the path is considered dangerous and passes through private land.
(2) Turn left and continue climbing away from the valley. Further on, first turn left then right and join a path leading to a meadow. If the meadow is open, take a short detour to enjoy the landscape, the stream that winds through it and the flowers, including gentians. Return to the path and follow it straight ahead.
(3) Further on, cross a stile to cross a long summer pasture, surrounded by curious and somewhat "clingy" cows. There is no clearly marked path in the meadow, so walk straight ahead and then veer left to find a sunken path that leads to a gate with a handle to cross the electric fence. Follow the path, keep left at the fork and head towards the hamlet of La Graille.
(4) At the crossroads in the centre of the hamlet, near a beautiful monolithic fountain and an old carved cross, continue along the street opposite, passing in front of a house. The tarmac disappears and the path joins the intersection you passed on the way there. Turn right to cross the stream and return to the car park (S/E).
