Departure from the post office car park or the medical centre car park, Route de la Coucourde in Sauzet.

(S/E) Facing the uphill side, turn right and join Allée des Jonquilles. Follow this path uphill, turn right onto Allée des Lavandes and reach Allée des Buis. Continue a few metres to the right and turn left onto Allée des Chênes. Reach the forest and find the start of a mule track (discovery trail) on the right a few metres before a left-hand bend.
(1) Take this small path that follows the bottom of the valley. Cross the Ruisseau de Fond Davin and, after a short climb, you will reach a fork. Continue to the right, almost horizontally, until you reach the southern shoulder of the Crête de Ruas and a small path.
(2) Turn left and join a wide track. Continue uphill and find the start of a path on the right. Follow it on a fairly steep climb through the undergrowth. It turns right near the ridge, continues horizontally and quickly reaches the Rocher de Ruas.
(3) After enjoying the view, turn left, pass the summit (point 411) and begin a steep descent with a few small steps in the rocks. At the bottom, ignore a path on the right (not shown on the IGN map) and continue to a grassy track with a small concrete reservoir. Turn left and head for the pass with a crossroads of four tracks.
(4) Walk a few metres to the left until you reach another fork. On the right, you will see concrete blocks that can be used as a "picnic table" and the signpost for the Col des Grands Abris.
Follow the path that starts behind the concrete blocks and then turns left to continue parallel to a track on the right. After a steady climb through the woods, you will reach a fork on the ridge. Continue left for a few metres.
(5) At the fork (Crête des Grands Abris signpost), ignore the path on the right and continue straight ahead until you reach the next junction about 50 metres further on. Take the straight path on the right, which descends quite steeply until you reach a cross path.
(6) Turn 90° left onto this mule track. Continue along the mountainside until you reach the southern shoulder of the ridge and find a small path leading down to the right.
Be careful not to continue along the mule track.
(7) Follow this small downhill path that runs along the top of the shoulder. Cross the end of a track coming from the right (not shown on the IGN map) and reach another cross path further down.
(8) Continue to the right. At the crossroads of four tracks, continue to the left. Ignore the paths on either side to reach the tarmac road of Allée de la Montagne at the edge of the forest. Follow this road, cross Allée des Buis and arrive at Route de la Coucourde. Turn left and head for the post office car park or the medical centre car park (S/E).
