Park in the car park of the Savasse village hall
(S/E) Cross the main street at the pedestrian crossing and take the street to the right of the town hall. At the top of Chemin de la Croze, in the right-hand bend, find a path through the vegetation.
(1) Continue straight ahead on the path. Join Chemin de Côte Roide and turn left, then right onto another path that leads to the old village, passing between houses before reaching the main street.
(2) Turn right to cross the old village to the cemetery. Reach the recycling area.
(3) Take the path on the left: the climb to the relay station begins and continues with wide hairpin bends. Reach the relay antenna. Take the opportunity to admire the panorama, including the Cruas power station, the Rhône valley, the Saôu forest, the plains of Montélimar to the south and Valence to the north.
(4) Continue down the road to the bend at the crossroads.
(5) Go straight ahead on the ridge through the box trees. Follow the main path to a three-way junction.
(6) Turn left at a bend of almost 180°, then keep left again at the next crossroads. Follow the main path, ignoring all the paths branching off to the right or left. Cross several ravines, notably Châtaigniers and Fromage. You will then come out onto a road.
(7) At the three-way junction, turn right and follow the road until you return to Savasse.
Take Chemin Coupier on the left, then after 200 m, descend via Chemin Clinton on the right.
When you reach the main road in Savasse, turn left towards the town hall and the car park (S/E).
. The path through the vegetation was easy to find, so we took it and then tried to find a path opposite! We ended up near the church, where we found a marked path that we followed, and we ended up at point 4. There, we followed the instructions carefully, but I think we could have followed the yellow-marked path on the right, which runs along the road and leads to just before point 5. At point 6, we left the yellow markings. At point 7, we turned right, then at another crossroads we took the road on the left to Chemin Querille, which is first tarmac and then stone. The hike offered some beautiful views, particularly of the Vercors, which was still covered in snow. However, on the ridge between points 5 and 6, the noise from the motorway was constant!
