Cross the entire resort and park in the car park opposite the resort's equipment sheds, where the road ends.
(S/E) From the car park, take the track that climbs towards Les Lacs - Chalet de Roche Rousse - Forest des Estaris.
When you reach Forest des Estaris (hamlet), turn left towards Les Lacs.
(1) A little further up, turn right at the Rocher des Estaris sign. The path climbs above the hamlet with a passage through the rocks. Continue climbing until the track crosses the stream and arrives at the Près la Baume crossroads.
(2) Continue straight ahead towards Les Lacs - Chalet Roche Rousse - Jujal. Ignore the next trailhead 100 metres further on and continue climbing straight ahead on the track. Higher up at a crossroads, take the track on the left as there are many trail marks.
(3) At the Jujal sign (waterfall on the left), continue straight ahead on the track towards Les Lacs - Chalet de Roche Rousse. A hundred metres further up, at a new sign, continue on the main track slightly to the left towards Les Lacs.
(4) When you reach a chairlift, continue straight ahead for 100 metres until you see the Roche Rousse sign. Continue along the track towards Lac des Pisses – Lac des Estaris – Lac des Sirènes.
Once at Lac des Sirènes, leave the trail to go around the lake on the right and rejoin it at the sign.
(5) Take the trail on the right towards Lacs Jumeaux – Lacs des Estaris. After 100 metres, at a fork, continue straight ahead. After about 600 metres, at a bend, go straight ahead towards Lacs Jumeaux – Lac des Estaris. A sign shows the direction of Refuge des Estaris and the lake on the left.
(6) Take a few steps to the right to see the Lacs Jumeaux. Return to the sign and turn right this time towards Refuge and Lac des Estaris. Join the track at a bend, turn right and shortly afterwards you will come to a fork (below the cable car and the refuge).
(7) Turn right to reach Lac des Estaris.
(8) Continue on the path to the right of the lake (marked blue, white and red) which climbs towards Col de Fressinières or Col d'Orcières. Above the lake, at a cairn, take the path on the right which climbs to the pass.
(9) When you reach the pass, turn right onto the small path that climbs towards the summit of Roc Diolon. The blue, white and red markings continue to the summit, so just follow them.
When you reach a flat area, two cairns mark the passage. Turn left to head towards the summit via the ridges. The path may look daunting, but it is always safe to walk on. Nevertheless, you should be careful when approaching it. Once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view.
(10) Descend to the Col de Fressinières or Col d'Orcières (9) and Lac des Estaris via the same route.
(8) Once at the lake, cross at the low wall and take the path opposite which joins the track towards Refuge des Estaris. Take the path that descends between the refuge and the chairlift towards Lacs Jumeaux – Chalet de Roche Rousse.
(7) Further down, at the junction of the tracks, take the path opposite to continue along the track towards Lac Profond.
(11) Once at Lac Profond, take the path on the right that goes around the lake on the left towards Lac Long. Go around the lake and ignore the paths that quickly branch off to the left. Once you have gone around the lake, you will see another small lake. Go around this lake on the left as well, following the path that leads up to Lac Long.
(12) A sign invites you to turn left towards Lac des Sirènes. Follow this path, which runs alongside the stream flowing from the lake, then descend steeply to reach Lac des Sirènes.
(5) Turn right towards Chalet de Roche Rousse and descend the track to reach it.
(4) Pass it and head towards Merlette OT. A hundred metres further on at the fork, keep to the left track. Pass the Jujal signs (3) and arrive at the Près la Baume crossroads.
(2) Continue along the path (leaving the path used to climb up to Rocher des Estaris on your left), cross the stream and take the track on the right which climbs up and arrives at the Via Naouva sign. Then take the track on the left towards Forest des Estaris – Merlette Tourist Office.
(1) Pass through the hamlet and turn right onto the track to return to the car park (S/E).
