Park in the car park at the entrance to the village of Villerach (Place des Grenadiers).
(S/E) From the car park, the path descends along a dead-end lane towards Clara (to the west). You are now on theGRP® Canigou circular route, marked in yellow and red.
(1) After crossing the stream, at the level of the track, the path branches off to the left (south-west) and climbs rapidly to the Coll de Villerach.
(2) At this pass, at the crossroads, take the right-hand path towards Clara.
Note: the path on the left, marked Chapelle de Saint-Étienne, is a shortcut that avoids the village of Clara.
Turning right will take you to Clara. Cross the village, passing in front of the church, first left then right, Rue des Acacias then Rue du Canigou.
(3) Then take the DFCI CO40 track towards Col del Forn and follow it for about 2 km. Leave theGRP® and the markings will now be yellow only.
Stay on the main track climbing to an altitude of 690m. At the first junction, stay on the left-hand track (wooden sign indicating chapel). At thesecond junction, leave the track coming from the left, which is the arrival point of the shortcut from Col de Villerach.
(4) At an altitude of 690m, at the junction of the track and a path (sign indicating Col del Forn 20 minutes away), leave the track and take the path that climbs to the right (south-east direction) marked in yellow.
(5) At the junction of two paths, leave the yellow markings and take the path on the right, which leads you in a series of zigzags to the Chapel of Saint-Étienne (Sant Esteve de Pomers) perched on a promontory.
The path goes around the chapel on the left and descends just behind it (blue markings). The path then climbs again to Roc de la Collada. On the way up, you can see the chapel and the Vinca plain stretching to the Madres massif.
Once at Roc (altitude 1060m), the trail descends westwards and arrives at a crossroads of two yellow marked trails.
(6) Take the one that descends to the right (the one on the left takes you back to the chapel).
(7) After the last bend to the left, turn right onto the path that descends steeply and leads to Col del Forn (705m). Car park, information boards, metal hut.
(8) At the pass, take the DFCI CO42 track opposite for 100m, then at the junction of two tracks, take the path between them that climbs up the shoulder (yellow markings) towards Puig d'en Tosseire and then Col de la Martre.
(9) Just before the Col de la Martre (Coll de la Marta), stay on the wide path on the left, which supports theGRP® coming from the right: the markings then become yellow and red again.
At the pass (altitude 537m), take the path on the left to descend to Villerach (west, then south-west).
(10) At an altitude of 470m, just before the aqueduct, leave the track and follow the path that branches off to the left and climbs up to the village, marked in yellow and red.
You will arrive at the cemetery. Then simply descend to the right through the beautiful village streets towards the (S/E).
