Description of the walk

If you are coming by car from Prades, just before you reach Villerach on the D24, look for a lay-by where you can park in a hairpin bend.

(S/E) Take the track heading due east, pass under the canal bridge and reach a junction just after joining the GRP® Ronde du Canigou.

(1) Look for the return path on the left, continue straight ahead on the GRP® and negotiate two hairpin bends.

(2) Leave the GRP® and turn left: a sign indicates the Dolmen de la Lloseta. Go around the small peak of La Garrolla (560 m) to the south and then west, passing two paths that branch off to the right. The dolmen is signposted again and can be seen from the track a hundred metres further on.

(3) Continue along the route.

(4) Cross the Rec de Boera, go straight ahead and follow an irrigation canal until you reach the tarmac track called Chemin du Roure. Follow this track, turning right.

(5) Look for the return path on the left and continue along the track. Negotiate a hairpin bend to the right and continue for about 150 m until you reach a fork.

(6) Take a path on the left that leads to the ruins of a church in a field. The village was located here before a landslide several centuries ago. The walls of the church remain , but be careful as they are leaning dangerously!

(6) Turn back and take the tarmac track on the left. Continue to the junction with Camì de l'Estany.

(7) Continue left and arrive at the hamlet of Lloncet. Go straight ahead at the crossroads to continue along the Còrrec dels Forms, then turn left onto the Chemin de Lafamade and reach Llonat at Rue du Figuier.

(8) Turn right, then immediately left to climb up to the centre of the village. Once at the top, turn left at the local bistro and you will arrive opposite the town hall. Turn left again onto Rue de l'Église, pass in front of the church and stay on the D24 road until you see a sign on the left indicating "Les Pardalets".

(9) Turn left, walk past this building and continue along the track opposite until you reach a crossroads.

(10) Turn left and rejoin Chemin du Roure.

(5) Take the tarmac track called Chemin du Roure on the right, then left along the irrigation canal, following the outward route in reverse.

(4) Leave it by turning right and follow the path that leads back to Villerach. You will rejoin the GRP® Ronde du Canigou.

(1) Turn right, then follow the path on the left that climbs up to the village. Take the street on the right, then turn left onto Rue de la Fontaine to go around the church and cemetery.

(11) Turn around, take the first street on the left, Rue des Treilles. Then take the narrow passage on the right between the houses and, at the crossroads, follow the road opposite, D24, to return to the car park (S/E).

A very pleasant and easy hike with varied landscapes far from the noise. To the north, beautiful panoramic views of the Têt and Eus valleys and to the south, superb views of the Canigou massif.
The route is not always signposted, but with the app there is no problem. It was a little difficult to find the dolmen, even though it was clearly visible from the path!
There is a nice café-restaurant in Lloncet, and a stroll through the village of Villerach is highly recommended.

A beautiful hike, not too well marked but easy with the Visorando app. We were lucky to have superb, sunny weather. No crowds except for a few farmers. I recommend this hike, even for families.
