Don Barbera Mountain Hut - Viozene

(S) From Rifugio Don Barbera, follow the sign for "Cap. Saracco Volante, Carnino Superiore, Rif. Mongioie". Head towards the yellow shelter and continue to a junction.

(1) Keep left towards Colle del Pas, walking to Passo della Croce.

(2) Descend south-east to a junction.

(3) Ignore the two perpendicular paths, continue south-east along a pleasant path and reach Passo delle Mastrelle.

(4) Begin the steep descent, despite the numerous hairpin bends, towards Pian Ciucchea.
(5) At the junction, turn left towards Carnino Superiore.

(6) Cross the hamlet of Carnino Superiore following the Via Alpina route. You will come out at a car park; then, returning to the road, immediately look for a path towards Carnino Inferiore (Via Alpina).

(7) Take this path, which climbs up to a new car park.

(8) From the car park, follow the road for about 70m to the entrance to the village.
(9) In the village, follow the signs for “Colle di Carnino” and continue along the Via Alpina to this pass.

(10) Heading north-northeast, return to “La Risorgenza delle Vene” and a Tibetan-style suspension bridge.

(11) Cross this suspension bridge and, still on the Red Via Alpina, walk towards a junction.

(12) Leave the Via Alpina on your left and take the path on the right leading to Viozene. Follow the various signposts until you reach a road.

(13) Heading east, return to the church car park (E).
