Description of the walk

Head to the hamlet of Morignole and park before the village bridge from April to November.

Yellow markings

(S/E) Set off along Rue Lanteri and cross the Levensa via the road bridge. Turn left immediately and follow the path which climbs gently through the forest; cross afirst stone bridge and continue to asecond one at Place de Touana.

(1) Continue along the left bank of the stream to reach marker 278.

(2) Cross the stream at the ford, taking great care if the water level is high. Pass marker 279, then reach the start of the hairpin bends.

(3) Follow a steeper climb to reach marker 280 at the Col de Touana, a crossroads of paths.

(4) Turn left and, continuing uphill, reach the Vallon de Stroup stream.

(5) Cross it and continue up a steeper slope to reach another stream.

(6) Cross this too and continue to the left. Reach the highest point at the edge of a wooded area.

(7) Turn left into the woods and enjoy a pleasant path that descends and then climbs slightly before reaching the Bergerie de Chambeuil.

(8) Carry on and you’ll soon reach the junction marked by signpost 291. Stay on the path to the left, continue the descent and, via a few tight hairpin bends, reach the Peug de Greu at signpost 290.

(9) Turn left and head towards marker 289. Continue the descent via a few hairpin bends, then carry on along the right bank of a stream. Pass marker 288 before entering Morignole, then easily find the car park next to the bridge (S/E).

Notes

There are no water sources along the way, so make sure to bring your own as the walk is long (4 hours).
Note: this walk can also be done in the opposite direction.
This will allow you to finish the walk alongside a lovely stream and enjoy a refreshing foot bath.

Worth a visit

A very pleasant walk thanks to the varied and magnificent scenery: streams, waterfalls, woodland, mountains and a sheepfold.

Magnificent panoramic views of the French-Italian mountain peaks BUT the trail is largely impassable and even dangerous in places (collapsed road, overgrown vegetation, no trail at all = forced to cut across steep fields/pastures, particularly unpleasant and very time-consuming).

A lovely walk where we cross a stream several times, but without any trouble and keeping our feet dry. The walk is fairly easy, with no major difficulties along the route.

A quick note
At the “car park” before the entrance to the village, take the path immediately to the left of the river (do not enter the village if you are doing the walk in the direction indicated)

A walk best done outside the hottest periods.
The path is not maintained, with a lot of grass covering the trail for much of the circular route. Thankfully, there were the yellow markings, your description and the IGN map.
We did the walk in the opposite direction to enjoy the water basin at the end of the route, which was an absolute delight.
Thank you for your hiking suggestions.
