Start: Car park, Croftlands Dr, Ravenglass (CA18 1SQ) Grid ref. SD 084 964
(S/E) Exit the car park by Croftlands Dr to reach the Main Street right. At the corner with The Inn at Ravenglass pub, take right in the direction of the train line.
(1) Just before the train line, take the footpath on the left (North-West) to cross the river Mite. Continue on this path following the shore of the rivers Mite and Irt. Continue on this shore path until arriving in front of a campsite.
(2) At the campsite take right on Saltcoats road (North West). Stay on this road for around 200m.
(3) Take the first big road on the left following the England Coast Path (West). Continue on that road until reaching Hall Carleton and an intersection of road (around 1 Km).
(4) Cross Hall Carleton to take the footpath in the direction of River Irt. It is not possible to cross the river Irt. This path just allows you to reach the shore of river Irt and have a nice view over Drigg and Carleton dunes.
(5) Once reaching the shore of river Irt, retrace your steps until arriving back at Hall Carleton and the intersection of path at Waypoint (4). This time take left (North East) to take Carleton road. Continue on this road for around 400m passing under the train line.
(6) Take right (South-East) on the footpath between the fields. Continue on this footpath until reaching the main road to Saltcoats.
(7) At the main road, take right (South) in the direction of Saltcoats village. Cross the train line and continue straight until reaching the campsite encountered at Waypoint (2). Then, follow the shore path to reach the car park (S/E)
