This walk is a variation of walk no. 160959, allowing you to go as far as the Rocher de Freyr.
Park in the car park on Place Bodart, in front of Falmignoul school.
(S/E) With your back to the N 95 and the school on your left, head towards the willow tree. Take the small bridge, cross the road and take thefirst right, just after a traditional bakery and patisserie.
Then take thesecond left to reach Rue Haute, then take thefirst right. At the end of the street, take the land consolidation path to start the Cascatelles walk.
Follow this path until you see a dirt track on your left. Leave the road and take this track, heading down to the edge of the forest.
(1) As soon as you enter the forest, take the path on the right and follow it uphill alongside the meadow. Reach the flag viewpoint and take a moment to enjoy the view over the Meuse valley.
(2) Continue along the path until you reach the top of Château Thierry.
At the castle, carry on until you reach a junction of several paths. Cross the ravine and head up the other side of the junction.
Once back on a stone road, turn left before taking thefirst right, heading back into the woods (GR®126). Follow the path for several kilometres.
(3) You will then see a valley on your left, with a path crossing it before climbing back up. Take this path and follow it to the hamlet of Rocher de Freyr.
(5) Retrace your steps.
(4) Take the first right. You will then begin a descent to the banks of the Meuse.
(6) At the junction, turn left onto a path leading to the riverbank. Walk along the Meuse.
(7) Pass a picnic area under the trees, then the marina and the ferry (depending on the time of year).
(8) At a very wide junction with a picnic table, turn left towards Les Cascatelles.
(9) Take the first right to head towards the foot of the waterfall. Then retrace your steps to continue climbing the path.
(10) Cross the stream, ignoring the path branching off to the right. Continue climbing, cross the stream a second time, and take the left-hand path at the fork (do not cross the water a third time).
(11) Continue straight ahead (avoid the climb). You will then follow the path until you reach a meadow. Keep going straight ahead, ignoring the path coming from the left and, a little further on, the road on your right.
You will then arrive in the village, where you simply need to follow the road until you return to the original junction (S/E).
