Description of the walk

(S/E) Follow the path that starts to the right of the church, via Rue de l’Égalité. Pass to the right of the cemetery, then marker no. 1, and head towards marker no. 2.

Yellow markings.

(1) Continue right along this small road to the 444m mark.

(2) Turn right onto Chemin de Courbon (road) towards the Chapelle Saint-Saturnin.
The road descends past some beautiful villas before giving way to a track at marker no. 3.
Continue to the right, towards the Chapelle Saint-Saturnin.

(3) After a few metres, at marker no. 7, elevation 390, continue straight on heading south. About fifty metres further on, at a cistern, leave the track and take the path below on the right. 200 m later, the path moves away from the track and descends into the forest.

At the next junction, keep right, following the yellow markings, towards the Chapelle Saint-Saturnin. A winding descent then begins through old terraced fields.
Cross the Canal de la Siagne and continue down to marker no. 6.

GR® white and red markings.

(4) Head down to the left towards the Chapelle Saint-Saturnin. At marker no. 5, turn right and leave the GR® to reach the chapel a few metres further down.

(5) Enjoy a lovely picnic break in this spot with its special atmosphere, then retrace your steps back to marker no. 6.

(4) Continue to the left following the GR® (note: the route on the IGN map does not correspond to the
actual route). Gradually climb through this forest to return to the level of the Canal de la Siagne.

No signposting.

(6) Once at the canal, follow it upstream on the left. An unusual and very pleasant route that will quickly take you back to the PR® marked in yellow at a wide footbridge.

Yellow markings.

(7) Follow the PR® on the left, which winds down towards the Pont des Gabres.
Just before reaching the bridge, a tricky little section near a waterfall requires your attention to avoid ending up in the Siagne. The ground is very slippery, but the water flowing down the vegetation like a living wall is very refreshing in summer.
Cross this magnificent bridge to find yourself in the Var region on the Pont des Tuves side. A very welcome opportunity for a swim.

(8) Retrace your steps to begin the climb up to the village.

(7) Cross to the other side of the canal via the footbridge and, at marker no. 9 (elevation 288 metres), turn sharply left. The gate invites you to enter the village and find the church (S/E).
Upon arriving through the gate on the hillside of the village overlooking the valley, there is a drinking fountain about a hundred metres away, near the tourist office... you’ll need it.

A lovely walk – watch out at point 6, it’s a bit tricky; we took the wrong path (which was lovely too, but we missed the unusual bit) without any trouble, as it joins up with the other one.

I found the place beautiful and varied!
As for the signposting, there were no difficulties up to the Saint-Saturnin chapel and the return to the Canal de la Siagne. But after that, there are no more signposts, and there are signs indicating that the area is off-limits. I did, however, walk along the canal on the left for a while, thinking I was at point 6, but you mustn’t be afraid of heights! There isn’t always a railing, and the ground is sometimes far below...
I finally joined the red and white GR trail at the next junction (which climbs and runs along the right-hand side of the canal), before finally coming back onto the yellow markings leading to the bridge. Be careful: at the junction, the signs indicating the direction of Saint-Cézaire and the Pont des Tuves have been removed; the direction is marked in black felt-tip pen, so you have to walk round the sign to see it.
;
Alternative to point 8: retrace your steps to the junction and follow the path signposted for Saint-Cézaire. The climb is very steep in places (and the path is not signposted), but the view is magnificent!

A lovely walk that I highly recommend, featuring a beautiful chapel and the Pont des Tuves as a bonus – the route is not at all difficult.
