Description of the walk

Leave the N106 at the bridge over the Bramont, cross the bridge to reach the hamlet of Les Fonts. Park in the small car park on the right.

(S/E) Leave the car park by taking the Chemin des Écoliers on the right and walk for about 500 m.

(1) Look out for a small white marker on the left indicating the start of a path and set off along it. Follow this steep, very shaded path, negotiate the first bend to the right and continue along a loop that climbs to the left, taking care not to carry on straight ahead down the gentle slope. The path then continues up a steep incline and, after a third hairpin bend, leads to a junction with a path running along a balcony-like ledge.

(2) Turn left onto this path, then after about fifteen metres, leave it to continue the ascent up a steep slope to the right, emerging onto a grassy track.

(3) Take this path to the left, but only for a few metres, before turning right onto a path that is steep at the start: a cairn and a small red paint mark indicate the start of the path. The climb continues, becoming less steep further on, with two successive hairpin bends before emerging onto a yellow PR®-marked path. Cross this path, continue straight ahead on a gentle incline and negotiate the final three hairpin bends to reach the junction with the dirt track leading to the antennae.

(4) Take this path to the left, heading uphill, then carry on straight ahead when the dirt track branches off to the right. You’ll reach a junction where two tracks meet.

(5) Head left to follow the wide track which descends gradually, until you reach a flatter section where you must look out for the start of a grassy path on the left, hidden beneath the tree canopy, which marks a complete change of direction.

(6) Turn left here and follow this grassy path for about 800 m, until you reach the junction with the trail.

(7) Head right downhill and, about 200 m further on, take the steep path on the left, which serves as a shortcut to Les Fonts: a piece of barrier tape hanging from a branch marks the start. This path passes under a power line then continues downhill through the woodland until it rejoins the cross-country path you previously crossed at (2).

(8) Take the path on the right; then, after emerging from the woodland and passing under the power line once more, a final steep section leads back onto a dirt track. Follow this track through three successive bends and rejoin the tarmac road at the top of the hamlet. From there, simply walk down Rue de la Source to reach the car park (S/E).
