Park in the car park opposite the cemetery.
(S/E) Opposite the cemetery, follow the road to the right.
(1) At this point, the road ends; a path (with a gate) begins here, running alongside a small nursery before gradually heading into the woods
(2) At the end of this first short climb, follow the path on the left. This path will feel more natural; the atmosphere will gradually change from a wide, rather charmless track to a path overlooking a stream below, closer to the forest. The path reaches a fork at a left-hand bend.
(3) Take the slightly narrower path straight ahead. You’ll head a little further into the woods. Don’t hesitate to stop for a moment: the only sounds you’ll hear are birdsong
(4) Be careful not to miss this small path that climbs up to the right! It is less well-defined, but it is still easily visible. This path climbs slightly, but you will soon reach the plateau offering a magnificent view of Étouvans.
Once you reach the top, you’ll see several piles of stones on your left. Are they Celtic tombs?
The path then narrows, and in places the edge is close by: take care if you have children who are distracted and/or animals that might be just as easily distracted. Continue along the main path to reach Rue de Coutremont.
(5) Turn right to go down the road, which takes a first turn left then a second turn right before reaching the cemetery junction. Turn left to return to the car park (S/E).
