(S/E) We start from the Temple of Sainte-Marie, on the square in front of the town hall.
We pass to the right of the "La Coupole" bar and follow Rue de Saint-Julien. We pass the school, tennis courts and community hall before leaving the village. We continue north-east.
(1) At the edge of the woods, we arrive at Saint-Julien-lès-Montbéliard, where we continue straight on along Grande Rue. At the town hall, we turn left into Rue de l'Ecole, then turn right at the fountain. Rue de la Fontaine joins Grande Rue, then we turn left and follow the road towards Raynans.
(2) At the village exit, in the Point R car park (green recycling bins), we turn left onto a path blocked by a wooden barrier to motorised vehicles.
The path leads to the Étangs des Princes. After a yellow-painted house, we turn right to follow the riverbank along a fishermen's path.
(3) At the end of the pond, we cross a small wooden bridge and then turn left to continue our walk along the banks. We arrive at a gravel car park. We cross a first bridge over the Rupt stream and then continue to the right on the strip of land between the waters. We then cross three small bridges to find ourselves on the other side of the pond.
(4) There, we turn right, along a fir tree plantation on a path that leads to a meadow, which we cross. In the middle, on the right, we go through a gate to cross another meadow and take a path under the fir trees. There, the path passes by a reed bed, then we take the tarmac road on the left.
(5) We arrive in Echenans. We pass the town hall, continue straight ahead, and at the crossroads we turn left onto Rue des Vergers.
This road takes us back to Sainte-Marie à la Chapelle.
(6) We turn right to return to our starting point at the foot of the temple (S/E).
