Park your vehicle on the small road parallel to the D115, shortly after the old Penne station. Parking is available on the shoulder of this very quiet road.
SignpostingGR®46(white and red) +PR® (yellow).
(S/E) Continue north-east on this road and join the D115 after turning left onto the D33, opposite a beautiful house in a place called Granier.
(1) Cross the busy road with caution and turn right onto the wide path that runs alongside the Aveyron.
(2) At the hamlet of Amiel, cross the D115 again, taking the same care, and climb up the small tarmac road opposite. At the first junction after the bend, turn right and follow the stony path which makes a hairpin bend to the left and joins a fork.
Markings:GRP® (yellow and red) +PR® (yellow).
(3) Turn right and stay on the wide path that joins the plateau, levels out and leads to a clearing with an imposing cairn.
(4) Continue slightly to the right, following theGRP® to reach the Suquets viewpoint (theGRP® route on the IGN map is incorrect here).
Take the time to admire the view, then, with your back to the viewpoint, take the path on the right, which quickly becomes a trail and follows the edge of the plateau. Ignore the two paths that descend to the right: the first leads to the Pyramid Cave, the second to the few buildings of Bancaze.
about 150m after this second path, after walking along a low dry stone wall that marks the boundary of a property, you will come to a fork (not shown on the IGN map).
There are no signposts.
(5) Leave theGRP® markings and turn left. The path quickly gives way to a small paved road that passes between several beautifully restored houses, then heads northeast and ends at a large intersection.
(6) Turn left, pass several buildings on your left and continue to a fork.
(7) Leave the road and turn right onto a wide, stable track, which you follow straight ahead until you reach a group of buildings called Patrouquet.
(8) Pass between the buildings, turn left at the first fork just after, then right at the next one.
(9) About 250 metres further on, a barrier prevents motor vehicles from entering. Go through it easily and continue straight ahead. The path becomes less distinct but is still fairly easy to follow through the oak trees (the fork at elevation 337 shown on the IGN map does not exist on the ground). Go through a second gate identical to the previous one and you will come out onto a wide path.

(10) Turn left onto theGR®, which is soon joined by aPR® (no. 7) coming from the left, at the place called Les Grangettes on the IGN map. Continue straight ahead on this wide, well-marked path that winds through oak woods and then comes out into an area where box trees become more and more prevalent.
You are now approaching the Aveyron valley and you will begin to see the cliffs on your right that mark the start of the gorges. Pass the viewpoint shown on the IGN map, which is difficult to access and partially obscured by vegetation, and begin the descent towards the hamlet of Amiel.
(11) From this point, the view opens up onto the Aveyron opposite and the cliffs on the right. A short stop is highly recommended here to enjoy the spectacle.
Continue the descent to the fork.
(3) Continue straight ahead, cross the hamlet and then the D115 and turn left onto theGR® which leads to the car park (S/E) after crossing the departmental road again.
