Rioupéroux Himalayan footbridge

A very easy walk to and from the Himalayan footbridge overlooking the Romanche. There is a picnic area at the foot of the footbridge on the opposite bank.

A very short, well-signposted walk, with the footbridge being the main attraction – the only one, really, as the landscape in this valley is generally rather dreary.

We returned via Les Clos and the left bank of the Romanche (approx. 100m), but the descent from Les Clos at the start isn’t difficult—though it is very technical, with some very steep ravines requiring four sets of cables—making it much more challenging than the outward journey
If you’re tempted by this route, it’s easier in the opposite direction, starting from Riouperoux, where there’s a large car park in front of the museum and the ascent of the technical section is easier than the descent. The descent from Les Clos to Riouperoux is steep but easy
