Wind farm and the Mariette Valley, starting from Les Touches-de-Périgny

Walk amongst vineyards and woodland, enjoy the peace and quiet and the scenery, and get up close to wildlife. The wind turbines are unobtrusive and the area is very peaceful.

Description of the walk

Park in the town hall car park; there are a few marked spaces at the front and back, otherwise there’s a large green area with trees where it’s easy to park.

(S/E) Walk past the town hall and library buildings on your right until you reach the bridge. Take care when crossing the road, as it can be very busy depending on the time of day. Then turn left onto Rue des Puits Bœufs. Continue until the bend, turn right and you’ll reach the junction with Route de Bagnizeau.

(1) Turn left onto it; at the next junction, carry on straight ahead and you’ll reach a T-junction.

(2) Take the path on the right, skirting a field and then a vineyard, until you reach the edge of a woodland.

(3) Turn 90° to the left, then to the right. Walk alongside the vineyards until you reach a crossroad.

(4) Turn left onto it for just a few metres, then, just before the woodland, turn right onto the small grassy path. You’ll come to another road; turn right onto it for a few dozen metres, then turn left. Walk alongside the vineyards again until you reach a wider path.

(5) Turn right onto it and follow the blue signposts. Now walk alongside the Bois de Breuil and then cross the D226. Keep following the blue signposts, walking along the edges of the Bois du Vignaud and Baron until you reach the Vallée à Mariette crossroads.

(6) Leave the signposted route and turn right into the Vallée à Mariette. Continue along this road to the Ancien Moulin de Chapitre.

(7) Turn right and head towards the hamlet of Guigne Four.

(8) Carry on straight ahead, skirting the vineyards once more, until you reach a four-way crossroads at the hamlet known as Le Mas de la Franchaud.

(9) Carry on until you reach thefirst houses in Les Touches-de-Périgny. Take Rue des Alouettes straight ahead and join Rue du Moulin Sauvion. Turn left onto this road, then turn right into Rue du Magasin. Cross Rue du Temple with care and you will then reach the town hall car park (S/E).

A minor error between 5 and 6 caused the route to veer off course.

An interesting route for a walk and the scenery, but with no particular points of interest (monuments, sites, etc.).
What’s more, we have to follow a bit too many tarmac roads, with wind turbines constantly in view…
