Description of the walk

Starting car park on the D8B1 about 1.5 km after the exit from Brunstatt via Rue du19e Dragon.

(S/E) With your back to the road, you will see three paths. Take the one on the right. Continue along this path, ignoring any unmarked paths on either side. After about 1 km, you will come to a T-junction marked "Sentier de Bruebach".

(1) Turn right and leave the forest. Not far ahead on your left is a district road. At the first crossroads, continue straight ahead. Now follow the yellow rectangle markings ofthe GR®532and enter the village of Bruebach via Rue de la Croix Bleue. Continue to a crossroads with traffic lights.

(2) Cross carefully and continue straight ahead on Rue de Didenheim. Further on, at a stop sign, continue straight ahead on Rue de Flaxlanden. Finally, after a wayside cross, at a roundabout, continue straight ahead until you reach the junction with Rue de Zillisheim.

(3) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead on Rue d'Altkirch, leave the village and continue on the main road on the left-hand side. At the next X-shaped intersection with a cross and a bench, continue straight ahead on the path to the left of the fenced-off area. This path runs along the forest on the left. Ignore the next intersection.

(4) A little further on, leave the yellow rectangle markings and take a small path marked "Sentier de Flaxlanden" which veers to the right and enters the Bauholz forest. For about 800 metres, ignore the various unmarked paths on either side of the path until you reach the X-shaped crossroads with a path marked with a blue disc.

(5) Turn right down this path. Further on, at an intersection, turn left and exit the forest immediately afterwards. Here you will find a bench engraved with "Junge Allemend", ideally located for taking a break and enjoying the beautiful view of the Vosges mountains. Descend along the forest and continue straight ahead to the next crossroads.

(6) At the intersection, leave the blue disc markings and continue straight ahead. At the next intersection, turn right and follow the red triangle markings. Leave these markings a few hundred metres further on and take thesecond path on the left just before a road sign saying "sauf usagers autorisés" (except authorised users). Follow this path, ignoring the various unmarked trails leading off to the left and right. Pass a hilltop and leave the forest.

(7) At the T-junction, continue straight ahead and rejoin the "Sentier de Flaxlanden" trail. Enter the forest again, pass a second hilltop and leave the forest a second time. Ignore the path that turns left and continue straight ahead on the "Sentier de Flaxlanden" trail to reach the next intersection, under the high-voltage power line.

(8) Leave the equestrian centre on your left and follow the red diamond markings and the "Liaison vers le Sentier de Brunstatt" (connection to the Brunstatt Trail) on the right. Ignore a path on the left and continue towards "Brunstatt-Centre".

(9) At the crossroads at elevation 319, turn right. Now follow the "Sentier de Brunstatt" to the finish. At the highest point of this path, on your left, you will have a clear view of the TV antenna and the Émile Müller Hospital in Mulhouse. A little further on, turn left towards a farm with a large silo. This path enters the Brunstatt forest and continues to the finish, which is located on the other side of the departmental road (A/D).

An interesting route, best done when the trees are in leaf. Partly through forest and flat terrain. It's a shame that the paths after Bruebach were particularly muddy. You can park your car at the Bruebach community centre. No particular problems with the route, as I always walk with the GPS track provided.

Hello,
At the start, take the path further south and not the recommended path. Otherwise, you will encounter fallen trees, and as the path on the right no longer exists,
you will be forced to turn back.
Once you have made this correction, the walk is pleasant.

Many trees had fallen across the paths at the start of the route.
A trail that was supposed to branch off to the right no longer exists (we searched and searched and turned around...), so we turned back on the trail that branched off to the right, which we were advised not to take...
Otherwise, it was a rather pleasant hike, but one to avoid in hot weather as more than half of the walk is through the village and fields.

Hello,
Our hikers enjoyed this outing, which took place despite an orange weather alert.
They would like to thank the person who suggested and identified this very pleasant route for hot weather.
Well done to Visorando for its great tips.
Best regards

For part of the route, it is difficult to find the right junctions. The paths are not always clear or you have to turn.
