(S/E) The start is at the marina, in the car parks near the Youth Hostel, opposite the entrance to Rue de Kerrarun (no entry). Cross Rue Eugène Berest to reach the waterfront at the port.
Take the seafront promenade on the left towards Moulin Blanc beach (GR®34). Continue and take the large pedestrian/cycle crossing that goes under the boulevard and the railway line.
At the exit, do not take the underpass that goes under the roundabout, but take the small staircase on the right (right next to a large "Popeye" street art mural) that goes up to the roundabout. Cross carefully.
(1) Directly opposite, take the very small path behind the blue information sign.
Follow the path uphill, then turn left into a sunken path that leads downhill.
At the end, turn left (leaving the house on your right) then right to join the main path that runs alongside the Stang Alar stream.
After 100 metres, enter the Botanical Conservatory Garden. Cross the botanical garden (between 1 and 2 km) by following the stream (leaving the stream on your left) or by taking whichever paths suit you best to the opposite exit.
(2) At the exit of the botanical garden, turn immediately right towards the greenhouses. After 50 metres uphill, take the small path under the trees on the left.
(3) Continue under the trees and then descend to a crêperie at the foot of the stream. Follow the path along the stream, keeping the stream on your left.
(4) When the stream forks, follow the branch that goes to the right (east).
Continue along the path until you reach a gate, exit leaving the park on your left and go around a house on the left.
(5) Take a path on the left behind the house: return in the opposite direction on the other side of the stream. Keep the stream on your left, this time in the opposite direction.
Reach the point where the stream forks and cross wherever you like (there are several footbridges).
Walk back down the valley on the other side of the Stang-Alar stream. Re-enter the Botanical Conservatory Garden via a much narrower path than before.
(6) About 250 metres further on, after a traditional round and pointed hut, turn right and leave the botanical garden.
Follow Rue Antoine Prigent on the left (incorrectly marked as Allée du Bot on some maps) towards an EDF transformer station. Walk up to a boulevard (Rue de Quimper).
Cross and cut straight across, walk along the nearest tower block, cross its car park at the back, then take a hairpin pedestrian climb. Cross the lawn alongside the children's playground and climb the steel stairs to reach a sports field.
Cross the field diagonally to the left to reach the exit. Follow the street that zigzags past a gym and houses, ending at the junction with Rue de Verdun. Cross and take Rue André Chénier opposite, where there is a footpath on the right-hand side (after a semi-circle).
(7) Follow this path and, at the end, turn right onto Rue Pen Ar Hoat, then take the second left onto Rampe de Poulbriquen. Then take the first left onto Rampe du Vieux Bourg and continue to the end.
(8) Continue downhill under the first bridge (a railway line), passing in front of the Chapel of the old village of Saint-Marc. Cross under two bridges again, which are almost touching, leading to Rue Alain Colas.
Immediately after the two bridges, take the second of two footpaths on the left (the one with a wooden barrier). Follow this very shady path for about 250 metres, which crosses Rue des Drisses. Continue for another 250 metres, then turn left onto another footpath.
The path winds between two walls, but just before the end, there is an opening in the wall on the right: enter it, and you will find another small path that leads to a small roundabout in the middle of the houses.
Cross the roundabout and take the narrow path that winds opposite.
The path leads to a small grassy square with two paths opposite leading out: take the one on the left which leads to Rue Ladmirault, then turn right onto Rue des Celtes.
Take the second left: Rue Le Mel; after a few bends, the street is blocked by an embankment. Cross it and turn right onto Rue du Vieux Saint-Marc. After a few dozen metres, there will be a very small path on the right. Take it.
(9) At the end of the path, take the tiny street that goes down to the left (Rue de Kerrarun). Continue down to the end of the street, which runs alongside the Youth Hostel, then arrive at the starting point of the route in the car parks (S/E).
In step 6, it says: "Follow Rue Antoine Prigent to the right, towards an EDF transformer station." In fact, you have to turn left at and there is indeed an EDF transformer station there.
End of the route very difficult to "imagine"
