Description of the walk

Park in the Chavons car park on the Route de Prayé.

(S/E) Take the Route Forestière du Gentil Sapin for about 100 metres, then turn left onto the path. Follow the blue ring markings uphill.

(1) Go straight across the crossroads, keeping to the blue ring markings.

(2) Continue straight ahead until you reach a forest road. Turn right and follow it for a few dozen metres.

(3) Take the path on the left. Go straight ahead at the next intersection and you will come to a forest road.

(4) Cross it to take the path almost opposite: follow the blue ring markings.

(5) At the next intersection, turn right, leaving the blue ring markings, and follow the red triangle. You will come to a new forest road.

(6) Leave the red triangle signs by turning left, then turn left again about 100 metres further on. Join the blue ring trail coming from the left.

(7) Ignore it and continue to follow the forest road.

(8) Leave it for a path on the right, keeping the Anneau Bleu markings. At the next junction, turn right, leaving the Anneau Bleu markings, and you will soon reach a fork in the path in the shape of an inverted Y.

(9) Take the hairpin bend to the left, following the Ruisseau de la Basses des Loges stream. Look for the blue ring signpost.

(10) Keep left at the three-way junction and follow the Ruisseau du Grand Bras. Ignore two paths on the left and continue.

(11) Just before crossing the stream, turn left, leaving the Anneau Bleu signposts, which you will find again further on at the crossroads you passed on the way there.

(1) Turn right and follow the route you took earlier in reverse to return to the Chavons car park.
(S/E).

Worth a visit

We stopped twice.
The first break was on the Hautes Chaumes between points (4) and (6): magnificent view of the Rabodeau valley.
At point (6), you can continue towards the Haute Loge.
Our second break was between points (9) and (10). The trail is crossed by a tiny stream. It's an idyllic spot.
At point (10), you can continue towards Haut du Bon Dieu and Lac de la Maix.
Part of the hike is in the forest and the other part is on high stubble fields. During the hike, we found many traces of wild animals.
We didn't see anyone during the hike. Solitude guaranteed.

A very pleasant short hike in very hot weather. The route is shaded until you reach the stubble fields, then descends along the stream back to the starting point. It's wonderful! Definitely worth doing again.
One small issue with the explanation for point 1: the path to take is not "straight ahead" at the top of the road. When you reach the top of the road at point 1, turn right onto the forest road and after a few metres turn left onto the blue ring trail. Otherwise, everything else is perfect. Thank you to Visorando for this lovely walk suggestion.
