Description of the walk

Car park behind the priory, Rue du Chanoine Moreau.

(S/E) Cross the car park towards the priory, go through it and emerge onto Place Bérardier at the porch of the Romanesque church of Locmaria.
Take Rue Jean-Baptiste Bousquet, which runs alongside the Earthenware Museum on your left. Through the windows, you can see some pottery on display.
At Place du Stivel, leave the footbridge over the Odet on your left and continue straight on along Allée de Locmaria, where several information boards provide historical details.

Walk past the bridge opposite the Courthouse on the other bank and continue on to the Pont Max Jacob. A flight of steps leads to the traffic lights. Cross the road and you’ll reach a footbridge (Pont Saint-François) which takes you across the Odet.

(1) Cross and turn right to continue along the pavement on Rue du Parc. Pass a first bridge, with a view on your right of the Hôtel de la Préfecture on the opposite bank. Pass a second bridge (Pont Sainte-Catherine), with a view on your left of Saint-Corentin Cathedral and the former Episcopal Palace, now the Musée Breton. Cross the Odet via the third footbridge, known as the Passerelle de la Phalange d’Arvor, dating from 1903 and renovated in 2016, opposite the modern Departmental Council building.

Cross Quai Dupleix carefully at the pedestrian crossing and head straight ahead into Allée François Truffaut, between the Departmental Council building and a former cinema. You will emerge onto Rue Jean Jaurès, which you follow to the left for about fifty metres.
Cross this street with care to reach a staircase leading up to Mont Frugy.

(2) Climb this fairly steep staircase, which turns to the right. Continue along the wide path that climbs up to the upper part of Mont Frugy. Stay on this section, which offers the best view of the town and the countryside to the north of it. Ignore the various staircases on the right-hand side.
You will come to a gate followed by a series of steps leading down to Rue Haute at the traffic lights on the right.

(3) Cross this street then continue left along the pavement, passing the Henriot pottery workshops and the Pascal Jaouen School of Embroidery. Turn right, passing the chancel of Locmaria Church.
At the end of the street, turn right into the car park (S/E).
