Towpath along the River Odet and the Bois du Corniguel

How to get there: in Quimper, follow signs for Pont-l’Abbé via the D785 and cross the Poulguinan Bridge.
At the next roundabout, take the last exit towards Port du Corniguel. Just before this road, turn left at the sign for Stade Nicolas Kervahut and park near the stadium.

(S/E) Walk to the far end of the car park, then follow Rue Ludugris alongside the stadium; this leads off to the right onto the towpath. Turn right and follow the towpath, which runs alongside the River Odet. Pass Cale Neuve, a former landing stage halfway between Port du Corniguel and the old Port du Cap Horn in Quimper. Continue straight on (with a view of Lanniron Castle on the opposite bank)until you reach a pumping station (blue marker post).

(1) Leave the towpath and start climbing up to the right into the woods. Ignore the first path on the left and turn left onto the next one, despite the Yellow Cross and Blue Cross. Begin a somewhat steep climb and, further on, rejoin a blue-marked path. Follow it straight on, alternating between short descents and climbs. Turn right to climb towards the edge of the woods.

(2) At the top, just before a road, turn right into the woods despite the Yellow Cross and Blue Cross. Follow the faint mountain bike markings along the path as it winds through this deciduous woodland and emerge at the exit near a gate.

(3) Head downhill to the right and reach the end of a cul-de-sac (Rue Ker Élise). Turn left onto it for about a hundred metres and continue left along a path at the edge of the woods, which leads to a road.

(4) Turn right into this cul-de-sac. At a house called “Lévenez”, which is beautifully decorated, take the pedestrian crossing on the right (gate). This leads to another cul-de-sac, which continues via a further pedestrian crossing. You’ll arrive at a large open space with a children’s play area and two benches. Head left to join a street, then turn right. Note the houses built on the hillside along this street, as well as an imposing staircase. You’ll arrive facing a lake.

(5) Take the path that runs alongside the lake, passing a footbridge on your right, go round a private residence and arrive at the towpath. Follow it to the left and, retracing your steps from the outward journey, return to the car park at the Stade Nicolas Kervahut (S/E).
