Oberhaslach, Col des Pandours, Wangenbourg, Oberhaslach

Start from the car park near the Ringelsthal Forest House, on the edge of the D75.

(S/E) With your back to the entrance to the forest house, turn right onto the track leading into the forest. Continue straight on at the bottom of the valley, pass the Étang des Myrtilles and look for the start of a track on the left.

(1) Turn left and, after about 400 m, turn right onto the single track and rejoin the track you left earlier.

(2) Carry on uphill to the Carrefour des Anlagen.

(3) Carry on straight ahead, then, a few metres further on, turn onto the track on the right. The track climbs gently to the Col des Pandours.

(4) Cross the road with care, then take the track straight ahead, keeping to the right after 150 m (marked with a Red Cross), and you’ll soon reach the Carrefour des Pandours.

(5) Carry on straight ahead and follow the Chemin Forestiers des Pandours. On emerging from the woods, continue straight on and head downhill to the junction with the D218.

(6) Turn right into Engelthal-le-Haut and follow the main road. Drive straight through Wangenbourg, passing the Tourist Office. Continue along Rue du Château, past the cemetery and the playground, until you reach the foot of the castle rock.

(7) Head to Wangenbourg Castle.

(8) After taking in the views, return to the playground.

(7) Head down towards the village by taking the single track on the left which runs alongside the rock at the foot of the castle. Once at the road, walk about a hundred metres to the left and look for a path on the left, just before the corner of the woods.

(9) Take this path (marked with a Yellow Triangle) and follow the Loechelbach.

(10) At the junction, turn right, cross the road and continue straight ahead. Head up the valley with the stream on your left. Ignore a path branching off to the left and carry on to the next one.

(11) Turn left, cross the stream, then follow the road uphill. Continue along the valley to the^second four-way junction.

(12) Carry on straight ahead, towards the Rocher du Pfaffenlapp. At the cross-country track, turn left, then a few metres further on, turn onto the path on the right. Join a lovely track and carry on straight ahead to the Rocher du Pfaffenlapp

(13) Be careful: you’re approaching a technical section with roots and rocks.
Carry on along the path and, when you reach the track, continue along the left-hand slope. Pass one ridge and then reach the next one. Turn sharply to the right and, at the next junction, turn left to reach the Carrefour Schweitzer.

(14) Head down to the right along the track and, at the end, turn left to quickly reach the car park near the Ringelsthal Forest House (S/E).
