(S/E) Take the path a few metres below the track, which is closed to cars by a gate.
(1) Leave the wide path and take a trail on the right (green markings, follow these into the Vallon du Pilon du Roi).
(2) The path crosses a track and continues into the Vallon du Pilon du Roi.
(3) Leave the marked trail for a wilder track in a secondary valley on the right, between two cairns. The climb starts at the bottom of the valley, through scrub that prevents you from straying from the track, then up a slope where the vegetation is sparser and cairns mark the route.
(4) Join a more clearly marked trail coming from altitude 618 to the south. Pass under the high-voltage pylon and continue north on an old track.
Join the DFCI ridge track, towards altitude 593, and follow it to the left for about 300 metres.
(5) Take the path on the left.
(6) From the small pass, you can reach the ruins of Notre-Dame du Rot and the summit (679 m) above (easy rocky passage, crossing upwards to the right).
(7) Return to the small pass.
(6) Continue left on the path where old red markers can help with orientation.
(8) Follow the track north-west, join the DFCI ridge track and continue in the same direction.
Cut across a bend in the track via a path (blue markers) and then continue along this path.
At a fork, go left.
(9) Take the path opposite (blue and green markers) to the foot of Pilon du Roi.
(10) Return to the track.
(9) Descend to the right, winding down the southern slope.
(11) Take the path on the right (green markings) which descends into the Vallon du Pilon du Roi and rejoins the route taken on the way up.
(3) Continue straight ahead, taking the opposite route to the one you took on the way up, until you reach (S/E).
