Welcome to the lake A lake shaped like a bath is home to many birds. Feathers made from leaves will lead you to the fantasy bird, and in a nest swing you’ll feel just like your feathered friends. From the car park, the route first takes you through or across the River Hase, then continues to the right along the river until a flight of steps leads down to Lake Kronensee. The route then climbs up to Bietendorfer Berg and into the woods, before heading downhill again towards the Hase Valley and back to the starting point.

From the walkers’ car park, turn right towards Schwarze Welle (Almaquelle) and continue along the River Hase towards Kronensee. At the emergency point (Rechenbergstraße), turn left towards Blauer See. Once you reach the lake, follow the signs for route A7 at the junction. At the Adler, leave the woodland by turning left and walk past the horse pastures back towards the starting point.

The local hill of the “Wellingers”, as the villagers usually call themselves, is the Beutling, at the foot of which there is also a car park for walkers. For centuries, the Beutling served the people of Wellingholzhausen as communal land, which was managed as coppice woodland. As a result, along the way – particularly near the summit – you’ll come across impressive beech trees that were coppiced for timber, then allowed to grow wild again and are now overgrown.

Hiking to the Brocken in the footsteps of Goethe is a true Harz experience. The highest peak in northern Germany has been inspiring travellers, poets and naturalists for centuries – from Goethe to Humboldt. To this day, the Brocken has lost none of its fascination: along the Goethe Trail, you can expect stunning natural scenery, fascinating traces of cultural history and the special atmosphere of the Harz National Park. A tour that uniquely combines history and landscape.

The Auerhahnweg starts at the Auerhahn car park and follows a gently ascending path above the ponds of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Upper Harz Water Management System.The path curves to the left and ends at the large car park by the Stave Church. From here, it is only a few metres to the town centre.

On this circular walk near Altenau, you’ll experience a fascinating chapter in the Upper Harz’s industrial history: the Polsterthaler mine house once provided the power needed for the Polsterberg pumping station using water wheels and lifting mechanisms. Sunny stretches on the outskirts of the village, open woodland paths and the Polsterthaler pond offer a variety of sights along the way, before the route continues into the shelter of the forest. A tour for anyone who wants to enjoy a delightful blend of nature and history in the Harz Mountains.

On this varied circular walk, you’ll discover the Dammhaus, where the canal keeper once lived and monitored the canals. Today, this well-known destination for day trippers, with its outdoor café and tobogganing slope, invites you to take a leisurely break. Along the way, picturesque meadows on the outskirts of the village alternate with protected woodland sections – a walk offering plenty of nature and a particularly beautiful destination.

The Försterstieg is an old pilgrim route between two monasteries in the Harz region. We will take part of this route. Start at the campsite of Wildemann, and walk past the little lake towards Eichelberg. We will make a small loop and follow the pilgrim route back towards Iberg and Pferdekopf. We'll walk round the Hasenberg and walk between Adlersberg and Decherberg back towards Wildemann, following a nice single track along a route where you can hear the traffic passing by. Then we follow a lovely road in the village through a little tunnel and go up the mountain through lovely pastures towards the campsite.

This is a nice walk through the woods, starting from the campsite in Niemental. Follow the Niem stream through the woods towards Bursfelde. There is a beautiful monastery in the little village – well worth your while. Continue through the woods towards Ellershausen and back towards Löwenhagen.

A quiet, not too long walk to a beautiful viewpoint with a lovely hut. Park at the Wieda bus stop. The walk leads through a forest with many deciduous trees. At the end of the walk, you'll pass through the village.

A beautiful, long circular walk around Saint Andreas. Very diverse. Through forests, across plains with charming old houses. A bit up and a bit down on well-maintained roads. Pass a chairlift frequently used by mountain bikers.

The first section was very pleasant, through a protected nature reserve. The second part of the walk was quite boring. The section along the Grensweg, however, was very interesting. Lots of dead trees due to the bark beetle.

A beautiful circular walk starting from the charming town of Bad Sachsa. It begins along the lake with its many hotels and spas. It runs through extensive forests (unfortunately, there are some fallen trees here and there). Beautiful view from the Ravensberg.

A varied circular walk through the Behringer Heide, past Wulfsberg and the sheepfold in Tütsberg. The walk is particularly beautiful during the heather bloom in August.

The heathland around Wilsede and the nearby Wilseder Berg is among the largest heathland areas in Europe. The heathland stretches across some 230 km², offering unique, barren habitats for plants and animals. This cultural and natural area was placed under protection as early as 1921. The walking tour offers a varied route through the typical heathland and pine forests. The paths are mostly unpaved and often quite sandy.

A varied walking tour around Appelbecker See, past the game reserve to the Este and then to the Estetal nature trail with its many information boards. The return route takes us via Emmen and along a stretch of the picturesque Este.
