Start: “Am Beutling”hiking car park
(S/E) From there, head left (west) along Beutlingsallee and turn left again at the first junction towards the Bredenstein restaurant or “Zum Beutling”.
(1) Behind the viewing terrace, which offers a magnificent view over the village and the Else lowlands as far as the Wiehen Mountains, the steep climb to the Beutling and its observation tower begins.
Turn left behind the terrace, right at the first fork in the woods, and then slightly left a little further on towards the Beutling.
(2) The view is breathtaking and a delight at any time of year. On a very clear day (and with good eyesight), you can, for example, look north across the Osnabrück hills or south across Bielefeld as far as the Hermann Monument in Detmold.
Behind the tower and the shelter – known as the ‘Bear’s Cave’ – the route continues downhill through the Beutling woods; at the next fork in the path, turn right twice, following a wide semicircle back to the picnic spot. Ignore all paths branching off to the right or left along the way.
(1) From there, follow the same route back to the ‘Am Beutling’ car park. (S/E)
